Would give a 10-star review if I could, 3 Jan. 2012
This is a perfect, simple yet beautiful piece of art and wisdom, that works even for when you are tired and don't want to dive into too dense reading. It contains few words, but the marriage with the illustrations is a wonderful success, that leaves you saying: 'Wow', 'Awww', or simply laughing out loud by the sheer accuracy of how it depicts the lovely nature of little animals, specially pets.
Although you could identify a Buddhist influence in the message (awareness of the present moment), and although it does contain some explicit religious content (uses the words 'God', 'Creator' and 'Christian') this does not constraint the book within any particular faith. People from all beliefs can easily enjoy this, as it centers on Nature and what we can learn from it.
I have purchased already 6 of these and have given them to friends as Christmas gifts. They have all been no less than delighted and deeply touched. In one of my (Muslim) friend's words: 'Thank you! It's so cute and funny, and at the same time so profound!'. I Love it. Just bought the 2012 calendar version for myself.
