Netgear Wireless PCI Network Card
Netgear Wireless PCI Network Card

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install, seamless in use, 28 Sept. 2004
The Netgear Wireless PCI Network Card is easy to install and configure, and once set up is seamless to use. I installed mine into the family PC and had it working in secure mode in under 15 minutes. The family didn't even notice that they were now working on a wirelesss PC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential To Own, 28 Sept. 2004
I bought the two tape version of Alchemy back in '84 and only threw the tapes away - reluctantly - when they wouldn't play any more about 12 years later. At the time I did not expect to to get another copy. However with the re-release I can once again listen to one of the best live albums I have ever heard. For anyone who loves live music this is an essential addition to your collection. Live music simply has more to it than the clinical studio stuff, with the good artists ad-libbing. Mark Knopfler is one of the best, and so is this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thorough and addictive autobigraphy, 19 Jan. 2004
If you want to know the full truth about the life and times of James Hunt, this is the book to purchase. It goes into tremendous detail about all aspects of his life, without fear or favour. Well-written and comprehensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thorough and revealing biography of an F1 great, 19 Jan. 2004
I read this book cover to cover and was delighted with the treatment given to the subject. The book conveys the overpowering drive to win that made Senna the man he was. It starts by providing background into his early years, then goes on to cover his Karting an lower formulae activities, before going into the detail of his F1 career, which comprises about two thirds of the book. There are many colour photos and 'eye-witness accounts' that help to complete the picture. This is one of many books on Senna, but deserves to do well. Enjoyable to read - I look forward to other books in the series that the name implies.

"National Lampoon's" Doon
"National Lampoon's" Doon
by Ellis Weiner
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth searching for, 25 Oct. 2003
I imagine that it is now quite difficult to get hold of this book. I obtained my copy nearly 20 years ago from Forbidden Planet in London.
Doon takes the original Dune, substitutes Sugar for sand and Beer for the spice, and turns the characters into parodies. Although by different authors to those that produced Bored of the Rings, this book is similarly well-executed and stands on its own, rather than just making capital on an established success.
Beg, steal or borrow a copy of this book. Failing that, offer me a large chunk of cash for mine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy! Buy! Buy!, 25 Oct. 2003
I purchased the original print of "Bored Of The Rings" from Forbidden Planet in London some 17 years ago. Fans of the Great Work will love it, as will newcomers who have seen the films but not yet read the book. Bored of the Rings is a well-executed genuine parody that stands by itself. While it bases itself on and pokes fun at a similarly named book, it is well-executed and extremely entertaining. Miss this re-print at your peril. PS, Dune fans should check out National Lampoon's "Doon". Fancy a beer?

5.0 out of 5 stars Print Server Heaven on a budget, 4 July 2003
This is an excellent piece of kit - like all other Netgear products. Once set up (a two minute job if you don't muck it up like I did) it has been indispensible - I can now print from any of my three computers without switching any of the other two on.
One general comment I would make is that the buffer in the print server is quite small, so documents will take longer to spool off of your machine. For example, a six page Word document (text only) didn't finish spooling from Word until the printer was half-way through the last page.
One thing to be aware of is that the installation software will let you give the print server an invalid IP address. I gave it 192.168.0.255, not realising that addresses ending in .255 cannot be assigned to devices (they are 'broadcast addresses', whatever one of those is). Like I say the software lets you do it, and there is nothing in the manual to warn you off doing this. With some help from their help line I was able to sort it out. The person I spoke to seemed rather amused at what I had done, though.
I still recommend it to anybody who has more than one PC. Definitely five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dryer than the great Nef - but an essential reference, 26 April 2002
It's very difficult to make a book filled only with statistics interesting. This book is not 'a good read'. However for the diehard F1 fan it is a mandatory item on the bookshelf alongside Sid Watkins' Life At The Limit. And with this book at your side during a race you can check the accuracy of the commentator's facts and figures when the race gets, yawn, a tad processional.
Unbeatable value for money, even if it does stop at the end of 1999.

Oracle Certified Professional Application Developer Exam Guide (Oracle Press Series)

5.0 out of 5 stars The only book you need to gain OCP in Developer, 14 Mar. 2001
What more can I say? If you work through the chapters for each exam methodically, and ensure you are comfortable with the material, then you will pass the exams. Access to an Oracle database, and Developer, are essential.
