5.0 out of 5 stars As good as the book, 13 May 2011
This review is from: White Teeth [DVD] (DVD)
This TV adaptation of the amazing Zadie Smith novel actually lives up to the book

With a great cast, the story is played out effortlessly and full of energy and as well as being funny, intimate and tragic, it has pretty much everything you would expect from a quality Channel 4 drama
And although its nearly 10 years since it was made, it somehow still seems very fresh and relevant today.
Great soundtrack as well

5.0 out of 5 stars A whale of a time, 13 May 2011
The only thing worth tuning in for on Channel 5 and I dont even like fishing or Robson Green particularly.

By far the best series of the lot (though at the time of writing series 4 is just starting),
this series goes just about everywhere on the planet in search of wicked fish. What makes this series
better than the previous ones is the much-deserved air time given to the locals that Robson goes fishing with -
stars in their own right. In particular, the Indian dude with the moustache who doesnt quite seem to know
what a Catfish is.

Great show to have on DVD - the sort of thing you can dip in and out of and all the episodes are listed by
location so if you're bored on a wet sunday afternoon, you can head to Panama, then Cuba, then China instead

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous, 13 May 2011
Deluded posh folk with enormous properties and absolutely no sense of the value of money are helped out
by Ruth Watson (The Hotel Inspector) as she tries to rescue some of Britains finest architectural heritage.

As is always the case with these types of shows, the property owners dont like to be told how awful
they are but Ruth Watson takes no prisoners. The results are hilarious.

A case study in how the other half 'attempt' to live, if ever there were one. Sit down with a cup of char
and enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Hollywood Stars, 4 May 2011
This US version of the ever-popular British series certainly has a more 'Hollywood' feel to it - greater use of
emotive music and thought reflecting moments from what features, for the most part, an A-list cast - all very over the top, but typically American and very interesting to see some big names delve in to their family history.
The show still retains a little of its originality, narrated by the same guy from the British series.

If you missed it when the BBC first 'attempted' to broadcast it at some stupid hour, its worth a buy if you're
fans of the stars featured, or just have a general interest in American History.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 14 Jan. 2011
First of all, I'm a guy, and Second of all, its OK for guys to do Yoga!
As a newbie to Yoga, this DVD is perfect. Mandy knows exactly how to help you perform the movements and
there is something rather calming about being able to hear the ocean as she performs the workout...maybe
I'm getting too into this. Lovely footage of Jennifer Aniston at the beginning too

Apparently Victoria Beckham is now using a similar workout designed by Mandy incorporating astrology to 'align the body and mind' as she tries to get back in shape after having her baby

5.0 out of 5 stars Gareth does it again, 6 Oct. 2010
Gareth 'probably the most patient and positive man to have ever worked with the British public' Malone ups the stakes by taking on the Opera genre and the youth of society. Its predictable turning-lives-around stuff, but compelling stuff nonetheless.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER great British Detective Drama, 6 Oct. 2010
This review is from: George Gently Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
We seem to be spoilt for choice at the moment when it comes to British Detective Dramas. George Gently is up there at the top, and unique in so much that it manages to turn back time with great authenticity. Superb acting, stunning evocative locations and cinematography all come together seamlessly to create the sixties spirit

Taggart - The 100th Episode [DVD]

Price: £14.94

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique episode, 20 Sept. 2010
This special episode to mark the 100th episode of the long running detective drama, without revealing too much, doesnt follow the standard formula that each episode normally uses. Nonetheless, its a really interesting watch and a really clever way to mark the anniversary episode. Roll on the 200th episode!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud stuff, 20 Sept. 2010
Arguably the best comedy series of its time, The Good Life is vintage laugh out loud British comedy with a good heart. Superb performances by Richard Briers and Felicity Kendal (who manages to still look hot in wellies and a raincoat)

5.0 out of 5 stars Who would not watch this?, 14 Sept. 2010
WDYTYA goes from strength to strength. This latest series has more episodes than ever and the format of celebrities discovering more about their history fails to grow old and tired...mainly as most of the folk ARE actually celeb-worthy! But even if you're not into the Celebrity reality show thing, the historical element in itself is fascinating. Definitely one the uniquest shows the BBC has produced of late.
