5.0 out of 5 stars Canon Fixed Focal Length EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM Lens, 19 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this lens mainly because I work in tight areas. I used the lens at f/1.4 or f/1.8 without any IQ/PQ problem. I'm not pixel junkie, I rather care about the image itself. This lens offers beautiful images - sharpness, contrast, bokeh, etc. It offers even considerable depth of field as wide if you have a proper object-background positioning - which I like. I use it on Canon 5D M2.

As any such wide lens, it has perspective distortions. But this is not bad (at all). This is a feature. If you want a perspective compression, you'd go for 135mm f/2 or so. Indeed, this distortion offers new creative opportunities, if you know how to use it. It will give you very different images. If you are not sure of 24mm (or any fixed focal length of a prime lens), I'd recommend to experiment with 24-70mm f/2.8 or 24-105 f/4 lenses - at fixed focal lengths (without zooming). Basically I observe that they offer quite similar image qualities. Yet, this lens is a viable option if you want the f/1.4 fastness.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT WORKING ON WINDOWS 7 - 64 Bit, 28 Oct. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Driver that is shipped (and online) isn't working on Win 64 bit. It only gives an error message, but card doesn't work - without these drives. And no Windows Update seems to be there... #epicfail !

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't working, 15 Aug. 2010
I showed a sign of life when I very first connected, but then no life - for HDD. The reader seem to work (as drives are visible on explorer) I have Seaget 1.5 TB HD. I'll buy something else instead...

3.0 out of 5 stars A book on feminism..., 18 Mar. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although I found Williamson's previous book 'decoding advertisements' awesome, this book has nothing to do with it. It's very unfortunate to have this title, which promised me something completely else and therefore led to frustrations. Although I liked the phrase 'artificial light of positivism' quite a lot, the book in total is not I was looking for - on advertising or on marketing. Perhaps this comment helps you with it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing work on space & culture!, 18 Mar. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book is really great for those who are interested in culture in the very fist place. To me, the space aspect comes the second; however it is for sure the ground on which the book is essentially built up. It explores the various areas in space and its roots in or reflections on culture. Hollings reveals 'dark' secrets which are unfamiliar to masses with his amazing writing skills. Hollings genius is sensible between the lines and the way he structures his arguments and he jumps between a variety of topic, all interconnected within the body of the book. A pleasure to read...

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and digestable psychology!, 7 Dec. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Easy to read. Full of helpful stuff, almost no junk. Clearly communicated well supported through various psychological research as well as very recent studies. Contentrated on human behaviour rather than web design - which is the best part, yet established connection over real life examples. Perhaps, if you want to be directed on certain way and looking for an easy fix this book might not fit you well, however if you are into understanding the Human being - including you - this book will simply guide you though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, 15 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Andrew Haslam looks like managed a book for a wide audience - from beginners to professionals. This is the most comprehensive, organized and well presented book I've seen on the subject - and the only piece on that topic in my library. I saw it as an investment, because I really didn't want to miss in case it goes out of print some day. To me, it is a perfect reference book on Book Design and covers all major issues in necessary depth. I also had the priviledge to meet the author Andrew Haslam in person and I should confess that the book only reflect a small part of his knowledge and genious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 15 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read the book again after having the priviledge to meet Paul Smith in person. The time I read the copy of Esat Edin, which I gave back long time ago. It's brilliant and helpful. On one hand the book promotes Pual Smith - as it should do, but on the other hand it contains sincere and open phrases of Paul Smith - which I think every one should read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Masterpiece, 15 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Scientific Advertising (Paperback)
You wouldn't believe it's written in 1923! It's content (with slight exceptions) is still valid. And this makes this book a timeless masterpiece to read. It's quite easy to read - few hours. But conscise and full of insightful information. It looks like it was a great inspiration for David Ogilvy.
