After using this just a few times, so far it has worked flawlessly charging my Nexus 6. It needs to be charged from a USB power supply for intensive use because, inevitably with the area of solar panel available, keeping a phone running full time uses more power than the solar panel generates. It does seem to make a difference, though and keeps it charged ready for occasional use without needing to charge it from USB.

Idea is fine, but the zip failed on the corner after 6 months due to the fabric being not strong enough. Not buying another one. However supplier gohappybuy have provided a slightly larger replacement which while it is made of the same materials seems to have the zip better set in. I will see in time how well this works. I also bought a very similar replacement from another maker, which has a similar construction, and will see how well that lasts. On closer inspection in all of them, the fold-over seam where the outer cover is joined to the inner material where the pockets are, is inevitably bulky, and in the one that failed, these seams are pressing against the zip, causing tension where it goes round the corner and making it grate on the fabric, causing it to fray and trap the zipper.
GoHappyBuy have been most attentive and helpful; the review is the product only, not the supplier.

The Snow Child: The Richard and Judy Bestseller
The Snow Child: The Richard and Judy Bestseller

3.0 out of 5 stars Story cant decide if it's fairy tale or not, 21 May 2017
Mrs Armstrong here. I picked it up because I was intrigued by the possible life/fairytale crossover. In many ways the theme of the snow girl is strong and compelling. The ending did not work for me - by that time, the author had built up too many human "credentials" for the girl that hinting at any other possibility just felt like a sop to "but maybe she was supernatural after all!!" There is a tragedy here and nobody seems too concerned, content after a few lines to wallow in art and nostalgia. This seems to satisfy a lot of readers, though.

I also didn't feel particularly "Alaska'd" ... there was a lot of snow, and some trees and some mountains. Mainly it was about the neighbours, and that is the good bit. There are also bits anyone should read --- Mabel does not even start to heal until she takes part in the hard work of farming, but Jack had tried to keep her from this, thinking he was protecting her.

Quite a lot about the book emerges from a short interview with the author at the end, including her intentions for the ending and her attachment to Alaska and its people. It would have been even better if these things had been knitted up a bit more tightly in the book itself.

The battery in the phone would indicate full charge, and seem to work for a short time, but then the phone would switch off. It presumably had a high internal resistance.

This replacement battery arrived on time, fitted in the phoneas it should, and *seems* to last longer than when the phone was new, though I haven't tested it for long enough to be sure.

This story is different in character and in the way of telling than much of the science fiction I read. I wanted a place to start reading Aliette de Bodard's stories, and she suggested I start here.

I'm not sure how to describe the story, suffice it to say I enjoyed it enough to read more set in this story universe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends partly on how big the cavity is, 7 April 2017
We took this kit on holiday as my wife has had problems with one of her large fillings, and I had a temp filling before crown work. Her filling fell out without warning. The problem was that a large molar with one wall missing is too much for a kit like this to replace - it fell out fairly easily when she tried to eat, and the tooth was exposed, with painful sharp edges. So after about 36 hours we had to find a dentist. It was more helpful to me as the space it was filling was smaller and enclosed. It is a temporary measure and i went to see my dentist when I got home 3 days later. I would carry this rather than have nothing - the little pot does last well, we found it had several applications. But it is very temporary.

A different style of time travel story from many I have encountered. I am keen to see the sequel and find out of it is as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars The series gets better, 19 Feb. 2017

Irene loves books. There is something she shares with the audience for this series.

For me, there needs to be a protagonist whose point of view I can sympathise with, as well as an interesting plot and thought provoking ideas. After that, it is difficult to decide why I like a book a lot or a little.

If you srsly enjoy both Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes, there's a good chance you'll like this series too.

Shannon Mayer has written another compelling story. Her biography say's she started writing because she wanted to believe in magic. Here she has created a world where magic is real and some of the Greek pantheon are real jerks.

Kim Harrison wires books I can't put down. The main character made more sense in this book as the story arc develops, but read book 1 first.
