The best story here was the one about Roy Keane leaving several days of dog food out while he went away with Ireland.

A good read. Great humour with some superb analogies (although occasional these can be a bit strange). Mark Horrell is clearly a very down to earth walker, climber, mountaineer. The way he followed his dreams should be an inspiration to others.

Great story, well written for someone who is interested in the drama without understanding any of the technical aspects. Sympathetic portrayal of the victims and their families.

This review is from: Us (Paperback)
This is a wonderful novel. I urge anyone who grew up in the home counties of England in the sixties or seventies to read it. An extraordinary insight into the father-son relationship and the inevitable distancing between the two over time. The father tries to revive his relationships both with his son Albie and with his wife of 25 years with a grand tour of Europe's cities and art galleries, which of course goes pear-shaped. Superbly written with an uncanny ability to empathize with the reader and a couple of late twists thrown in. My only question is geographical - as far as I am aware the M40 runs through Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire but not Berkshire!

1.0 out of 5 stars "This Boy" Dumbed Down, 8 Aug. 2015

I cannot remember what I paid for this booklet (and it is a booklet rather than a book) but it was way too much. This is nothing more than an Easy Reader style re-hash of Alan Johnson's wonderful autobiography of his first eighteen years in fifties and sixties London called "This Boy". This review is not a criticism of Mr Cawthorne. If you can make money doing rewriting and shortening biographies in the third person then I wish you every success.

Craig Bellamy: GoodFella
Craig Bellamy: GoodFella
by Craig Bellamy
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad fella, 1 Aug. 2014
Refreshingly honest account of his nomadic career in the PL and all his emotional battles, often as he recovered from injury. Fascinating insight into working with Rafael Benitez at Liverpool. His love for both Cardiff City and Liverpool permeates the story, as does the deep impact on him of Gary Speed R.I.P. Craig Bellamy, not a bad fella...
