5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album...but NOT a remastered edition, 1 Nov. 2014
This review is from: The Sensual World (Audio CD)
There's little to add to the other glowing reviews here. The Sensual World is a quite sublime album, the songs are great and Kate is in fine voice here.
However buyer beware - if you thought you were buying a 'remastered' edition, as listed by Amazon (as usual right on the ball!), then you will be disappointed. It is simply a re-release on Kate's own Fish People label. Only the Red Shoes was remastered as part of the re-release editions. Great album though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Good To Me, 29 Sept. 2013
Well I've just listed to both discs on my Naim system and they sound pretty damn good to me. They are a significant improvement over the previous "Island Masters" CD versions. There is a lot more punch now.

"Sneakin' Sally..."was always one of Robert's finest hours, the band really groove away (mind you on most tracks it's The Meters!!)and his vocals are delivered with some passion. I've only given 4 stars because "Pressure Drop", whilst good, I feel is a bit disappointing after its superlative predecessor. His next album "Some People..." was another barnstormer.

So I for one am glad that some-one has bothered to re-release Robert's Island work - so far I've been really happy with them. But, you can't please all the people etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop music done properly!, 6 Aug. 2006
This review is from: Songs For Everyday Use (Audio CD)
It's not often you come across an album that potentially has ten hit singles on it, but this is one such album. I caught this guy at the Living Rooms in Manchester recently and bought the CD on the back of that performance. Gary possesses one of the finest voices around and this coupled with a bunch of fantastic songs and great production means that, if there were any justice in this world, this should be a massive hit. Seriously recommended to anyone who enjoys well crafted pop songs performed with passion.
