5.0 out of 5 stars Some fantastic album!, 19 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Some Fantastic Place (Audio CD)
Well, Squeeze did it again with this cracker of an album. Every track is standout wonderful, especially the poignant title track and the brilliant 'Jolly Comes Home' about a relationship on the brink of destruction. Music is wonderful and it is one of those albums you never get bored of listening to!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best..., 19 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Play (Audio CD)
Although not commercially successful {on part due, again, even with a new record company, with lack of publicity}, this is one of Squeeze's finest, and remains one of Chris and Glenn's faves too. Catchy tunes have always been one of Squeezes' fortes and this album is choc full of them! The brilliant 'Sunday Street' and 'Wicked and Cruel' are well worth buying this album for alone, and my personal favourite 'The Truth' is just a masterpiece. I couldn't recommened this album highly enough, it has to be one of my favourite all-time albums {granted most of which are Squeeze ones anyway, with a few Blondie ones too}!

5.0 out of 5 stars Live albums don't usually work, but..., 25 Nov. 2010
This review is from: A Round & A Bout (Audio CD)
but... Squeeze are no ordinary band and they are so spot on when they play live {I'd recommend anyone try and see them is they come to a venue near you!}, that this album is great, features some of their best, most well-loved hits such as 'Black coffee in bed' and 'Annie get your gun' with songs from their newest album at the time {which was 'Frank'}. A good listen, and it certainly shows just how talented Squeeze are as a band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let me be Frank..., 25 Nov. 2010
This 1989 album followed on from 'Babylon and On' which gave Squeeze great chart success in the UK and the US. Although 'Frank' is lyrically superior to 'Babylon and On', it failed to produce any hits, partly due to lack of publicity from the band's label A and M.
'Frank' is an album of greatness, with the songs all expertly written and played, and is a must-own for any Squeeze fan. The wonderful 'If it's Love', 'Melody Motel' and the great 'Doctor Jazz' are all well worth a listen. x

Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti
Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti

5.0 out of 5 stars No chart hits, but a fantastic album yet again!, 25 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti (Audio CD)
This album, released in 1985 after Squeeze reformed {after splitting in 1982}, produced no chart hits for the band and is undeservadely overlooked a lot of the time. I personally really like this album, it is full of the great 'kitchen sink' lyrics Squeeze do so well, and standout tracks include the wonderful 'By Your Side' and 'Heartbreaking World'.

5.0 out of 5 stars How would they manage without the rest of the band? Quite well, actually!, 25 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Difford & Tilbrook (Audio CD)
This album is very different really to any Squeeze album, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This album is full, just as any Squeeze album would be, with well-written, catchy songs, but these have a more grown-up pop tone and this proves to work well. A great album, but would recommend someone go for a Squeeze album first if they had never heard their stuff before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cool for cats!, 25 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Cool For Cats (Audio CD)
Love this album, would seriously recommend anyone to buy it. There is some classic tracks on here, including the amazing 'Up the Junction', quirky 'Cool for cats' and the almost Carribean style 'Goodbye Girl'. A must own for any true music lover! x

5.0 out of 5 stars Eat to the beat is simply yum!, 19 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Eat To The Beat (Audio CD)
One of my favourite albums of all time {Probably my second favourite after Squeeze's 'East Side Story'}, and I love every song, and have listened to the lp a lot of times!
The highlights include the wonderful 'Dreaming' and the classic 'Atomic' as well as the shout along 'Eat to the Beat' and 'Victor'. Buy it, it's fab!

5.0 out of 5 stars How Sweet it is..., 19 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Sweets From A Stranger (Audio CD)
Ok, so is it Squeeze's best album, no. But it is probably my fourth favourite Squeeze album {after 'East Side Story' and 'ArgyBargy' and 'Some Fantastic Place'}, the songs definitely deal with darker subjects than their first four albums, and a lot of the songs are about drinking and relationships breaking up, and I think this is reflected in the dark cover, with the bands faces in shadow.
The amazing 'Black coffee in bed' is a true masterpiece, and contains an opening 10-note organ riff that is heard at pretty much every Squeeze gig! I also love the funny 'I've Returned' and the marvellous curiosity that is 'Stranger than the stranger on the shore'. One thing is for sure, Squeeze never fail to surprise!

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Tempted' to say this is one of the best albums ever produced..., 19 Oct. 2010
This review is from: East Side Story (Audio CD)
If you don't own/haven't heard this album, buy it! Seriously, you will not be disappointed. It is often described as 'Squeeze's finest hour' and no wonder, it is a true masterpiece, and is probably my favourite album of all time. Every song is amazing, from the classic, worldwide known hit 'Tempted' {HOW did it only reach number 41 in the charts!!!}, to the beautiful and touching 'Labelled with Love' and 'Vanity Fair'. The contrast between songs also makes every song unique, from the melancholy 'There's no Tomorrow' to the fabulous 'Someone else's Bell'. Buy it, or you will regret it! x
