5.0 out of 5 stars Superb book, 17 Nov. 2016

Over a hundred years old and reads like a smooth modern novel. The narrator's voice is just like the narration in Kind Hearts and Coronets, but his character is altogether different. He's more wicked for a start.

A nice long luxurious read full of great language. Terrific

I read the kindle edition and thought the layout was fine - earlier reviews say it wasn't

Man, this is some book. A tightly wound plot which just keeps cranking up. Gillian Flynn is a GREAT writer.

There is nothing else close to this. The characters are so flawed and human, and placed in such emotional jeopardy. And that's before the murders start.

I know Frankie Goes to Hollywood very well, but had no idea about Brian Nash, or Nasher, other than that he was in the band.

So glad I picked this book up. It's well written and entertaining. From Nasher's childhood to his current life, via being the biggest band in the UK, this is a great read.

There are so many insights into life in a band. The biggest headslap for me was the real reason Frankie didn't do a performance on Bands Reunited. You'd make the same decision they did if you really thought about it.

This book is for all music fans, and for readers who want to spend some time with a decent human being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining an illuminating, 29 May 2014

Gosh, this is a cracking book. Showaddywaddy were my favourite band as a kid and, to my shame, only recently found out they are still a going concern (catch them live at one of the hundred gigs they perform a year - you won't be disappointed).

This book covers a low point for the band, performing in caravan parks around the UK where once they filled major concert venues. The book shines a light on the highs and lows. And boy, there are some lows.

But that's rock n roll, right? Staying on the road and giving it all you've got. An entertaining read.

This is a cracking book full of Reacher's usual bone-crunching detective work. A great read, lots of adventure, and a lot of fun. Ready for the next one

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and important book, 5 Mar. 2014

A book about a bunch of guys who predicted the 2008 crash, made a ton of money, and then felt bad about it. An important record of what happened with the sub prime market. This book lifts the lid on that world the way Wiseguys by Nicholas Pillegi did with the mafia.

A very funny read. A bit too brief, though! Lots and lots of wisecracks and jokes. Will read this again. Good for dipping in and out of too. Looking forward to more by this writer

Sleight of Hand: Shadow Games

5.0 out of 5 stars A cracking read, 17 Feb. 2014

This is a sequel to the author's earlier book 'Shadows and Fire' but you can go straight into this one. It starts off with a very odd train on a strange world. People referred to as different animals are going about their business only to be disrupted by a very shocking act.

This leads us into a believable, though weird, world full of treachery. There is tons of action in this book and great character interplay.

A great read. Next, please!

The Stone of the Tides (Realms of Chaos Book 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed and entertaining, 24 Jun. 2013

A cracking book from a new author. Everything moves along at a terrific pace. It's full of action, the characters are interesting and the story is entertaining.

You can imagine this as a great anime or motion capture film. The scenario, though fantastic, is believable and rooted in our world.

Well written and worth a read.
