Braun Silk Epil 7 7561 Wet/Dry Cordless Epilator with 5 Attachments

I have handed this over to my wife to do the review. Maybe this device will stop the screams of leg waxing.

The kit contains:
-----------------
The main rechargeable unit, this can be used in the bath or shower once charged,

Charger (note - this comes with a two pin bathroom plug, you will need to buy a three pin converter to use it in an ordinary socket in the UK)
6 X interchange heads for different areas and functions,

Head cleaning brush,

Instructions, cleaning tips and warrantee.

Charging.
---------
This is very efficient and quick. A one hour change lasts around 40 minutes. The unit is very quiet when running.

Settings.
---------
There are various setting, a low setting and high setting. The low setting is for sensitive areas and the high setting is for shaving.
Smart light.
The unit has a light that reveals the presence of even small hairs to guide you in the use of the unit. When used properly it is hard to miss even small hairs.

Pivoting head.
--------------
The head pivots to track the skin contours. This helps achieve and even and painless finish.

The heads.
----------
Six interchangeable heads are supplied.
The `shaver head' is for general hair removal and smoothing,
The `trimmer cap' removes longer hairs,
A `high frequency massage head' this helps condition the skin by increasing the blood supply and removes dead surface cells,
The `sensitive area head' reduces the cutting area for accurate shaping,
The `facial cap' allows small area hair removal from the facial area,
The `efficiency cap' covers a large area at once and is ideal for legs.

Effectiveness.
--------------
The unit does a very good and painless job at removing stubborn hairs. It produces a very smooth finish when used wet. Even the general dry cutting is painless and efficient.

Overall.
--------
A well-made and adaptable Epilator that works well after a little practice. This is a quality unit and should last a long time. Surprisingly there is no carry bag supplied and the cleaning brush is a bit small. Apart from these little niggles this is a very capable unit that produces excellent and pain free results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just get a copy and read, it's an amazing book, the best fiction I have read for ages., 24 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Death's Head Chess Club by John Donoghue.

This is a story based on the concentration camps and life in them.

The plot.
---------
I am not going to give it away but you will find it hard to put the book down. Every emotion from happiness to outright fear is conjured up while reading this book. It becomes an emotional rollercoaster of a read. The author has designed and presented a massive and intertwined plot exploring the time, places and interactions of the main players. It's superbly done in every respect. I can see this being made into a film someday.

Characters.
-----------
These are strong but all have their own agendas and the play between the personalities is very tense with only the reader knowing what each is thinking sometimes. In places it can be upsetting but this is the nature of the time. In other places the book is enlightening and shows how the human spirit can triumph over adversity.
The friendship that develops between the two main characters is superbly done and so unlikely given our preconceptions about the SS and Jewish prisoners.
The chess games themselves are thrilling and the author builds a real tension.

Overall.
--------
Just get a copy and read it, it's definitely the best fiction read I have had for a long time.

The Wellbeing of Nations: Meaning, Motive and Measurement
The Wellbeing of Nations: Meaning, Motive and Measurement
by Paul Allin
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £50.00

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and very readable account of 'wellbeing' and its measurement., 24 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Wellbeing of Nations: Meaning, Motive and Measurement by Paul Allin.

The aim of the book.
--------------------
This book presents a detailed academic account of how and why we measure wellbeing and present it to populations.

The author.
-----------
Paul Allin has worked for the Office for national statistics in the UK and is a professor of mathematics. He has held several high powered advisory posts in the UK.

Content.
--------
This book is aimed at statisticians, political / social commentators and students. In this content it provides a detailed account of wellbeing.
We are often fed figures about the state of the economy and comparisons with other economics. This book analyses those measures and presents the facts used by Governments to monitor the economy.
For such an academic book it is quite easy to follow and understand and it does make you think about the figures that are often fired at us about GDP, balance of payments and other economic indicators. It is very well done with plenty of references to follow up each section with.

Overall.
--------
An interesting read that has been well researched and presented. It makes you think about these often quoted indicators of wellbeing and how they are used to create an aura of success etc.
This book will appeal to quite a narrow audience but it is well written and surprisingly easy to read for such a book. The author has done a very good job at presenting a difficulty and often dry subject in an interesting and accessible way.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent overview of Nano technology and manageing it, 19 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Nanoinnovation: What Every Manager Needs to Know by Nano innovation: What Every Manager Needs to Know. By Michael Tomczyk

I work as a science lecturer and Nano technology is a big buzz word at the moment. It crosses every branch of science from medicine to exotic materials science.

The author.
-----------

Michael Tomczyk saw in the micro computer revolution in the 80's and worked on the Commodore Vic 20 home computer (I had one of these !). He has gone on to develop a career in managing change and technology and writes and lectures on this subject. This is one of his many books and publications on technology. We are in safe hands with this author who interview over 150 nanotechnology managers and scientists to produce this boo - no mean feat !!

Scope of the book.
------------------
This book covers the development and latest progress in the Nanotechnology sectors. It looks at the sector from a management and business point of view but is perfectly readable by a wider audience interested in what this is all about.

Approach and content.
---------------------
The book is a chronological account of nanotechnology from conception to the present day. The book starts off with an account of what this technology is and what it can and might do in the future.
It is an exciting branch to be in as there is plenty of research going on and many new inventions under development. Michael Tomczyk does well to cover the whole technology in one book and develops themes where a great deal of change will happen over the coming years. Computer technology, medicine and materials science are very well documented and readable. I found it a very interesting book to read and it keeps giving information on this vast topic.
Although written from as management point of view it is still engaging to a much wider audience. I can see lots of organisational change coming about form nano developments in the next 20 years. It reminds me of the late 70's and early 80's when the microcomputer revolution started. I was lucky to be in the thick of it and loved all the change and challenges it brought. I can see a similar development cycle with Nano technology.
The book is very good at striking a balance between information and managing it. . Michael Tomczyk has certainly researched the topic in-depth and presented a clear account of what most of us will want to know.
The book is illustrated with black and white images and diagrams where necessary.

Overall.
--------
I found this book a good overall account of what Nanotechnology is and what it might become. For such an involved subject the author has made it very readable and easy to follow. The index is good and there are copious links to research articles to take the reader further if needed.
I was very impressed with the book, it is well designed, thought provoking and opens up a possible scenario of the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars An iPhone manual with lots more as well., 19 Feb. 2015
This review is from: iPhone Portable Genius (Paperback)

iPhone Portable Genius Paperback

The book.
---------
This is a paperback book of 335 pages. It is fully illustrated with screen shots, lists and tables. The book covers iPhones including 5s,5c, 6 and 6 plus.

Content.
--------
The book is logically chaptered starting with the basic function and working through everything the iPhone can do and common apps. There are diagram to show the user where everything is on the phones along with what they do.

Writing style.
--------------
The book is easy going and takes the reader by the hand to explain everything. It will appeal to the new iPhone user through to the upgrader. Although the phones are quite easy to use out of the box there is a lot more functionality hidden away. This book gets you to all that extra stuff from emailing to photography. You can also use the book to look up how to get the best out of a particular feature.

Coverage.
---------
Every part of the phone is covered in reasonable detail and it's not hard to find what you want. For me the camera section sorted out some of the camera controls I needed to use to improve certain shots. For that alone the book has been worth reading. Also the section on the iCloud has been really useful to me and has got me using the system now.

Overall.
--------
This is really an iPhone manual. It is well written and comprehensive. It is ideal for iPhone users who want to get more out of the phone than the basic functions. Most of the information in here can be found on the web. However, the book ties everything together in one place. A very useful book for me anyway as I have sorted out a couple of problems with my iPhone and now have a lot more use out of it day to day. Worth a read.

Gamechangers: Creating Innovative Strategies for Business and Brands by Peter Fisk.

Peter Fisk is a leading brand expert with many years of experience. He is a regular business speaker and author.

This book is about.
-------------------
This is a beautifully written book about how the main large companies of today came into being and the motivation(s) behind their creation.

Reading.
--------
It is passionately written with many examples of the people behind the huge global conglomerates we all use today. It's not just about success it's about seeing markets developing and getting in to them early. Geoff Bezos's idea for Amazon is presented along with many other business people who have changed the way be buy and think about products. Reading into this most of these people just saw something most others missed and were prepared to take the risk.

Information.
------------
There is a lot of fascinating information here about the business world and how people developed big business. It is all presented in a very readable format with lots of diagrams and visual information. Key words are highlighted to make it easy to research further.

Who's the book for.
-------------------
At first I thought it was just another book on how people got rich but it goes far deeper than that. The book looks at the people and markets in detail and shows how they did it and why. The book will appeal to many people from students of business, law and commerce to those just interested in why the World of commerce is like it is today.
The writing style is easy going but a lot of information is presented in the book. In some parts it becomes a reflection on how the reader thinks but at whatever leavel you read it the book is very well done.

Overall.
--------
A detailed look at the movers and shakers in modern business and how they changed their Worlds. Excellently written and presented and hard to put down, I don't think I have ever said that about a business book !!

GoPro's and action cameras.
===========================
This book shows the Go Pro reader how to set up and control the camera to get the best of any situation. It goes through all the menus and gives tips on what is best for what situation.
It is very well written and beginners as well as seasoned users will find lots of help here. Apart from controlling the camera the book presents a course on how to film to get the best action shots. It's all very well done.

Post production.
================
Getting the footage is just part of the fun of the GoPro. After you have made the shoots comes editing and post production. The book goes on to explore editing and film making and cross references both Macs and PC's. This part is really good and helps turn some good shooting into a documentary type film.
The whole book is very well researched and presented. It is very easy to follow at any level and it will improve your film making.

Overall.
========
A comprehensive look at the GoPro, action filming and post production. There is plenty here for all readers and will only help improve your film making and generate new filming ideas. The book is very well presented and illustrated and should be on any action shooters shortlist. Highly readable and recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent brush from Oral B, 19 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Oral-B PRO 2000 Pink Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush

In the box.
-----------
The main brush, cleaning head, charging stand, instructions.

Set up.
-------
This is easy, just charge it up fit the head and away you go. The charging stand is fitted with a standard bathroom two pin plug (shaver socket) so you will need an adapter to use it in a three pin plug. This is not supplied but very cheap from many Amazon suppliers.

This brush is being used by my daughter who loves it because it's pink!

In use.
-------
The head moves to give you a very good clean. It is much better than the standard brush that just spins. By using a multi direction 3D head the teeth are cleaned quickly and much better than with a standard head. You can even monitor your teeth cleaning with a downloadable app !
There is also an audible pressure sensor to tell you if you are pressing too hard.

Overall.
--------
A much better tooth brush than the cheaper basic models in the Oral B range. This brush cleans better due to its multi-functional head. Cleaning two times a day the charge lasts around 5 days and there is an indicator to show low charge. Replacement heads are reasonably priced as well.
A good brush and worth paying the extra for over the basic ones. Highly recommended.
