5.0 out of 5 stars Live 2014, 19 Nov. 2014
This review is from: The Turn (Audio CD)
From the ashes of a drawn out separation and parting, Live have dusted themselves down got focused and regrouped. The result is a band with a new hunger and focus. Yes they have a very impressive back catalogue but this is Live 2014!

To be honest I had my doubts on whether they could carry on without Ed but (from my own perspective) I wasn't really too impressed with the latter releases. The Turn has Live returning to the potential that Throwing Copper promised, powerful riffs and lyrics are in place, none of the watery self congratulatory lyrics of later Live here. Chris Shinn has quite a legacy to follow on and if The Turn is anything to go by, he's the perfect replacement!

From a long standing Live fan The Turn has restored my belief in this band, go on give it a try you will be pleasantly surprised!!

For any Clutch fan this is simply a must buy. The inclusion of the two tracks that where originally intended for ER's 2013 release are justifiably reinstated and make ER an even more hard rocking enjoyable listen. The two dics of ER played live in it's entirety is awsome, Clutch are such an amazing live band it's something that really needs to be experienced.

For a long term Clutch fan it's a must, if your new to Clutch here's as good a place to start!!

I originally saw these guys opening for Status Quo on their Frantic Four reunion tour in 2013. Frankly I was blown away with the performance & purchased their debut album This Might Hurt.

If you like good solid rock n roll with an old skool feel; these are your boys. This Might Hurt is a great debut album bursting with hints of what's in store from these guys. Running With the Dogs picks up where This Might Hurt leaves off but grabs you with the scruff of your neck & rocks you til you drop. Highly recommended album from this exciting young band. Looking forward to thenext album already \m/

The boss MZ-2 pedal is a rarity in its own right, the only down side to owning this pedal is finding the right adaptor so that you can use both effects on it. Look no further!!

Firstly let me just say that I am not a Crue fan, the only Crue album I do like is the self titled album that they did with Corabi. After reading 'The Dirt' I took an interest in Sixx Am due to Nikki Sixx's very open & frank account of his experiences. The Heroin Diaries is an amazing concept album. This is Gonna Hurt, doesnt pick up where H/D left off. Sixx AM take on a more straight edge hard rock direction, none of the concept voice overs/intermissions here (1st single 'Lies of the Beautiful People' sets the tone nicely).

Personally I don't think there will another album in 2011 that will equal this, the craftmanship of both the music & the lyrics meets the standard set with H/D. Still the hard hitting autobiographical lyrics, voiced by James Michael & combined with DJ Ashba's guitar will not disappoint.

Personally I don't have a standout track, each song will take you to a different level, this is an album which will be seriously rotated on your hi-fi. Play loud & enjoy!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars SLAYERRRR!!!!, 11 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As along term Slayer fan, it's always a welcome thought that there's a new album on route, as always with Slayer their work does not dissapoint! I am somewhat confused with the mixed responses to this album (some people are needing to stop living in the past) With Slayer you know what you're going to get & there's always the ace up the sleeve experimentation from the guitar god that is Jeff Hanneman that frankly never fails to hit the spot & confirms there more to slayer than superfast guitar & drums.

Anyone who loves slayer buy it, anyone who wants an introduction to Slayer there's no better place to start than here!!

Looking forward to seeing these guys blast out at the Barowlands!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 10 Jun. 2008

What can you about Venom that hasn't been said before, yeh they invented thrash, yeh it was fashionable to slag them off i.e they consistently topped Kerrang's worst band poll in their early years, the consisitent line up changes haven't helped either. When the original line up reformed in 97 I was delighted, when Resurrection came out I was a bit skeptic to say the least a Venom album without Abbadon!! My god what an album that was. Anyway following the slightly disapointing Metal Black, yeh it was good but it really could've been better, Hell sees Venom release a worthy album under the Venom monicker. Cronos's bass never sounded so evil & Rage is an exceptional guitarist who is the missing link that should have been in place on Metal Black, Screaming vocals, machine gun double bass pedaling along with metallic riffs & dive bombs this is Venom!! PLAY VERY,VERY, VERY LOUD!!!!!!!!!!

Similar to other reviewers, I too have been following King's X for the past 20yrs, with each new pending release theres always the anticipation of awaiting another solid set of new material alongside a slight tinge of frustration in that this a band which has been criminally ignored & underated. Anyway enough of that, what we have here is arguably the finest work from the texan trio to date!! Personally I am bit mistified as to why people are saying this & Ogre Tones are a welcome return to form, personally I don't think they ever lost it, never a band to shy away from experimentation, King's X have delivered yet another excellent album. Personally I think it's about time people look beyond Gretchen & Dogman, & start looking at the rich catalogue of work the band have compiled since. Hopefully XV will be the album that gains the band the long overdue recognition they so richly deserve, SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The album that time forgot, 21 Jan. 2008
This review is from: The Cult (Audio CD)
Following the Cult's "stadium years", which to be honest never really suited them, yeh a couple of great albums were released under the cult banner, but problems with Ian & Billy peaked during the Ceremony recording sessions. With this album differences were resolved, habits were kicked & emotional issues were faced head on, hence a settled Cult line up releasing a deep, soulful & brutally honest gem of an album which quite frankly took everybody by surprise.

If your hankering for the days of Astbury grabbing his belt screamin baby baby, you wont find any of that on this one, a truly underated gem of an album which sees the cult display raw emotion & new musical depth, listen without prejudice, you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome return, 25 Oct. 2007

This album (as with every Cult album) yet again cannot be compared with it's predecessor, i've been a fan of The Cult since i first saw them on top of the pops performing 'she sells sanctuary', so being a long term fan I was slightly hesistant as to what The Cult were going to deliver this time around. What we have here an excellent album which really sums up where The Cult came from & where they are today, powerful vocals from Astbury & excellent guitar work from Duffy sprinkled with soulful lyrics, coupled with the superb wyse (bass) & tempesta (drums)who do make they're prescence felt on this album is pure raw Cult at they're best.
