4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting perspective, 27 Feb. 2017

A well researched and very humane view of a much written about historical figure. Strong, yet vulnerable....it would appear that Alienor matured into a remarkable lady.

Having studied Latin and always been slightly interested in the foundations of the Roman Empire ., this book made easy and colourful reading of that period.

2.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive, 19 May 2014

While the story line is dictated by fact( at least the general theme) I found the descriptions of clothing and furnishings consistently the same and too frequent. John of gaunt always wore the "same" damask tunic overlaid with cloth of gold etc.!

The theme of movie star meets anthropologist is somewhat unbelievable, but, it does emphasise that violence within marriage, can happen to anyone, in any strata of society.

4.0 out of 5 stars The 1st Tudor king., 1 Oct. 2013

Enjoyed this as much as her other books. Found the portrayal of Henry Tudor particularly interesting. His son, Henry 8th gets so much press that one knows little of the struggle of the first Tudor king.
