Great wee book - good quality pages and reproductions of the artists work. There is enough here to introduce the artists and inspire further reading and research.

This book is full of inspirational ideas and great photographs. I particularly like the impressionistic paintings of the border plans. The book doesn't provide all the answers but enough guidance and ideas to develop your own garden.

5.0 out of 5 stars just a great read for all gardeners, 15 May 2010
This review is from: The Ivington Diaries (Hardcover)
A lovely book, filled with musings on the process and pleasures of creating a garden, I found it both inspiring and moving. Unlike some others I liked the photographs, they feel like real picturesd of a very real garden. The kind of book you buy for someone else but keep it because you've strated reading and can't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars this new title is highly recomended..., 30 Dec. 2007
having admired designs from Veronik in Interweave Knits magazine, I thought I might like this book. I was absolutely right - for once I like every pattern in a knitting book. Usually thereone or two I love, some I like, and many that I know I will just never knit. However this book is very different and I can see me knitting all of the stunning patterns in this book - if I ever have the time! Definitely one to buy, enjoy, be inspired by, and knit from.

5.0 out of 5 stars another excellent knitting book from Ann Budd, 3 Feb. 2007
Ann Budd has many of her patterns published in Interweave Knits - and I like them all, a bit unfortunate for my ever growing collection of yarn and projects. However this is a book that will help you work through the yarn you have already bought or may be about to buy. The patterns are are for mittens, gloves, hats, tams, scarves, socks, vests and sweaters. Sizes go from baby to adult, so a great book for creating gifts for family and friends as well. Instructions are very clear and straightforward and the book is very well laid out. Recomended for beginner to expert knitters.

5.0 out of 5 stars stand out swamp rock, 3 Feb. 2007
This is quite simply a great introduction to the music of Tony Joe White. It features a number of stand out tracks, including Polk Salad Annie and Rossevelt and Ira Lee. Tony Joe combines soul, blues, country and rock to create his own sound. It's amazing when you hear this album how familiar some of the tracks are - a lot of this music was recently featured in the background of a travel programme on the USA. Buy, pour yourself a drink and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars a great buy for knitters of all skills and abilities, 2 Sept. 2006
This is quite simply and excellent buy for all knitters. This book helps you to understand how patterns are constructed and youi can then use this to put together your own sweaters using the yarn that you like. I've already planned out a sweater that I'm sure will fit and be flattering once it's completed. this is a book which will help you to be confident in making choices in your knitting.

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful designs for the advanced knitter, 2 Sept. 2006
This is a beautiful collection of designs, many of which involve complex colour work - as an intermediate knitter who likes simplicity I think these designs are for those who are more advanced, although I could be proven wrong! The photography is lovely and the notes about the designers, their background, and their inspiration are very helpful. Almost a coffeee table knitting book, but the shapes of many of the garments are stunning and I think flattering to all kinds of figures. So maybe one where i will knit the patterns in one colour! Inspiring and a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great buy for all kinds of knitters, 2 Sept. 2006
This is, quite simply, a lovely book for knitters who are enthusiastic. I really like the range of projects from mittens to a lap rug to a egg cosies. The finger puppets for kids are especially good. Many of the patterns are simple but they benefit from this appraoch, leeting the quality and colour of yarns shine through. The quotes, recipes and photographs make this a good read as well. Highly recomended !

5.0 out of 5 stars everyone should read this...., 16 July 2005
because J.K. Rowling has created a world that everyone can relate to, whatever age they are, wherever they live and whoever they are. This book is filled with a plot that races to it's conclusion and characters that leap off the page. If you've read the previous books, you must read this one - if you haven't read the previous books you should still read this one. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince pulls together strands of stories from previous books, but leaves lots of story still to come in the seventh book. Well worth spending a Saturday reading this.
