KINGKORG - Korg - Synthesizer
KINGKORG - Korg - Synthesizer
Offered by MusicalStore2005
Price: £817.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Virtual Analog synth on the market today., 13 Jun. 2016
Probably the best VA on the market. Do not buy the KingKorg if you are looking for a keyboard with acoustic pianos, realistic strings or drums. It does have some good electric pianos. The KK is a recreation of the analog polysynths of the 1980s and an excellent one at that. It requires the user to have some knowledge of how analog synths work and will reward good programming. It can sound very Oberheim. It also has some great Mellotron samples on board.

It is quite light and an excellent synth for gigging, saving taking that rare and irreplaceable real analog synth out of the studio. If you want to know how good this synth is search YouTube for Cory Henry and KingKorg.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent detective story, 31 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A nice little yarn set in Devon and Cornwall. It is set in the 60s or early 70s and the language is slightly dated but it does not detract from the story. It is quite mild and seems very timid by today's standards, but that does not detract from the story.

Very enjoyable.

3.0 out of 5 stars So nearly perfect, but ......, 6 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ok, for the price it is not bad. The big downside for me is that the controller software will only run as a standalone programme, It will not run as a plug-in inside a DAW. Coupled with the fact that the only midi in the Beatstep has is via its USB interface means that to use it with a DAW you can only use the control surface "as is". To get the most out of the Beatstep, it needs to be controlled from its software, so you can change pad settings, sequences and so on, but then it will not sync to your DAW or any midi clock.

Rather a large mistake from Arturia and one they will not respond to when asked.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read, shame he decided to distort the facts., 10 April 2014
I am a Bryson fan, up to reading this. I had always assumed that Mr. Bryson was pretty factual where appropriate.

Here the book hits a subject -aeronautical history - that I know a little about, so I was really surprised to find Mr. Bryson being very loose and misleading in this book. Just the prelude contains 2 items that anyone with an internet connection can show are wrong or disingenuous.

Firstly air-cooled aero engines had been in use since the early days of powered flight. What Mr. Bryson is referring to as a big breakthrough is the introduction of the radial engine. This was a British development Mr. Bryson, reliant upon the British development of casting aliminium.

Secondly, Alcock and Brown's Trans-Atlantic flight was done in more than a "Boxkite with a motor". The twin-engined Vickers Vimy they used was a heavy bomber introduced towards the end of WW 1. It was state-of-the-art for its time, and was used for many years after the war. Yes, the Atlantic crossing pushed it, and the crew, to the limit, but it was certainly not the flimsy affair imagined in this book. It was used, very successfully, for many long distance flights.

So all in all, treat the book as perhaps giving the gist of the period, and a personal view at that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, Hilarious, and throws in Science and Politics. A great read., 19 Dec. 2012
This is an entertaining and eclectic mix of many subjects (e.g. Quantum Physics, Politics, S.F., to name but a few). It makes for a very interesting read and paints a dark view of society that if we are not careful, we will tumble into easily. It is very funny too.

Highly recommended, an upcoming author worth watching out for.

3.0 out of 5 stars So good, yet so much against it., 26 Oct. 2012

This review is from: Genesis Revisited II (Audio CD)
Up front. I am an out and out Genesis fan. I have always felt Genesis lost as much when Steve Hackett left as they did when Peter Gabriel did.

The original "Revisited" was an experiment that worked well for me, so bits better than others, but it did not fall into the trap "Revisited 2" has.

Leaving the vocals aside, "Revisited 2" contains some superb recreations of the original recordings, but with the guitar turned up a bit, and may be the odd twiddle here and there. Add in the vocals and you have the sound of a very good Genesis tribute band, e.g. "The Musical Box". Or, an interesting thought, what Genesis may have sounded like after Gabriel left and Collins stayed behind the drum kit i.e. a new vocalist was brought in.

The best things about this album are the great cover, the immaculate production and great playing - though the drumming is not as sharp as that of of Phil Collins.

Listen to the originals, especially the cleaned up versions that are for sale on Amazon at very reasonable prices and remember what a great band they were during the period "Revisited 2" covers.

It may cause a bit of contention, but IMHO none of the former members have achieved anything as good since, not even Peter Gabriel.

5.0 out of 5 stars You owe it to music collection to add this album!, 6 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Twilight (MP3 Download)
Paul Nagle has been around for a while now, producing music in many different styles and showing what a versatile, talented composer and musician he is, producing quality Ambient, Dance, Electronic and Progressive music with seeming ease. All he really needs is the recognition he richly deserves.

To say "Twilight" is an Ambient / Dance album is doing it an injustice, though it certainly ticks those boxes. As with all his music, the difference is that there are strong themes, memorable melodies and just an overall quality that makes it a cut above the rest.

The inspired mix of reggae drums and backbeat against an electronic soundscape with ethereal vocals that make up "All The Dirt" is a good example of what I mean.

After you have strutted your stuff to this album, it makes you want to sit down, play it again and listen to it as well.

Highly recommended.
