I had an issue with my original purchase but the supplier has replaced the headphones with a new pair. The new ones are really good. Sound quality is excellent. Excellent customer service as well.

Very impressed with this fork. A bit more expensive than some of the others but it seems well worth it. It's sturdy, lightweight and the handle is comfortable. Recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, 19 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As with other reviewers, the labels are not boxed as shown in the image.

They are marked on the back as 'Avery' but they could just as easily be knock-offs.

Clearly the seller has bought a whole load of these and is selling them on in small lots.

Not impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down, 20 Nov. 2012
Great little book.

I have two. One 'good' copy with the pages not stuck together and my working copy.

Give the book a bit of time. It's starts slowly but ends climatically. Recommend.

Dell 3008WFP Ultrasharp 30 - inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

5.0 out of 5 stars It's big....... very big., 29 Nov. 2010
OK, firstly, read the previous reviews (unlike me) and appreciate that the monitor comes supplied with a displayport cable and a dual-link DVI cable in the box. You don't have to buy one. The actual Amazon product description needs updating here.

Secondly, the monitor is just great. But it is very, very large. It also gets quite warm. I can't tell you anything more technical than that I'm afraid. I'm running it at 2560 x 1600 resolution which is an absolute necessity. Why would you spend so much money and not run it at it's maximum? It is the best monitor I've ever used but to be honest, that's not a very long or distinguished list.

Kill Your Friends
Kill Your Friends
by John Niven
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but shallow in subject and style, 8 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Kill Your Friends (Paperback)
Firstly, this book is a terrific read. Entertaining and amusing. That said, it's also pretty trashy and shallow. The themes, content and style are all lifted from 80's American 'Brat Pack' writers. Not just Bret Easton-Ellis (although the similarities to American Psycho are many and varied, right up to using a bent coat hanger in unusual ways) but also Jay McInerney, Mark Lindquist et al.

Some of the phrases such as 'pointlessly handsome', are also jarringly familiar. (A quick google search on this one suggests it might have been coined by Martin Amis).

I would recommend this book to take on holiday and read by the pool rather than as anything more nourishing. Make sure you take some more books with you though, this one will be finished by about Tuesday.

This Gaming Life: Travels in Three Cities
This Gaming Life: Travels in Three Cities
by Jim Rossignol
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - accessible and thought provoking., 28 Sept. 2008
I was cautiously optimistic about this book; I had heard good things and had read articles on gaming sites that had been written by the author. The book did not disappoint in any way.

This is an ambitious book that raises such questions as what gaming is, how it meshes with human nature as a whole and how gaming differs in different cultures. The author obviously displays a thorough knowledge of games and gaming but he also conveys relevant and interesting observations about the people he meets and the places he visits on his extensive travels.

The book is extremely well written. The author subscribes to the philosophy that it is best to present complex ideas in simple terms. It makes the text a pleasant and satisfying read. The author uses plenty of quotes and they are pertinent and excellently sourced, coming from industry luminaries such as Will Wright.

I would recommend this book to anybody. It is thoughtful, well observed and beautifully written. As an introduction to the subject or as insider reading, it is essential.

The Joke's Over: Memories of Hunter S. Thompson
The Joke's Over: Memories of Hunter S. Thompson
by Ralph Steadman
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars A unique perspective, 10 Jan. 2007
I enjoyed this book. Ralph Steadman had spent a good deal of time with Hunter Thompson and it shows in his detailed, funny and numerous anecdotes.

Steadman was there at arguably the birth of Gonzo journalism, the Kentucky Derby, although he was not Thompsons first choice illustrator, as he himself points out. This episode is given emphasis in the book, as is the period surrounding their major collaboration 'The Curse of Lono'. The book covers a many events and times, these men were friends for decades. There are letters and faxes from Thompson printed verbatim. These obviously have never been published before and are insightful and in places, very funny.

Steadman is not a professional writer and in places it shows. He is however, intelligent, observant and he possesses a wicked sense of humour and at times a very caustic wit. He also pulls no punches, this is not a sycophantic homage to Thompson. At times it feels like an open letter to his deceased friend, it is a worthwhile read.
