1.0 out of 5 stars Far too narrow, non-standard sizing and fitting, 29 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The sizing of these is crazily non-standard and, even after following the often-repeated advice by several past reviewers to go up at least a full size - I chose to go up 2 sizes - they are, even then, still too narrow to allow more than partial entry. Length is under-stated by at least a whole size and width by at least three sizes which all but precludes them suiting many buyers. They are fitted with speed laces.

With most footwear styles and brands, a normal fit in size 9 is ideal and provides excellent day-long comfort; with a few, a wide fit or an extra half-size may be needed.

Joseph Seibel claim to be a brand that is ideal for those with wider feet and offer several styles to meet that demand. This is clearly not one of them!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after minimal use, 29 Sept. 2017
Was broken after about 2 or 3 weeks of use with the user weighing far less than its claimed maximum.

It is one of the least expensive of its type but its weight-carrying ability has probably been over-stated by 50 Kg or more.

Not recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars A tight fit in all directions - total disappointment, 24 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A fan of the Cat/Caterpillar brand for several years, they can normally be relied upon for fit both in length and width - the latter is usually generous. These are atypical in that the width is quite narrow and there is limited depth at the front of the shoe which makes them very tight and uncomfortable across the foot and toes. There is a slight deficiency in length, too, although it is probably less than a half-size.

My natural shoe size is 8 1/2 although most brands dictate the purchase of a half-size larger as few offer half-sizes for UK and European stocks. Caterpillar is one such brand and their size 9s are usually ideal. There was one prior exception (from about 15 purchases) where the fit is too long and wide (box label says US 10, UK 9 and Euro 44, the latter probably being the most accurate). This is now another although the sizing error is in the reverse direction.

A disappointing purchase hence their immediate return.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, small and inexpensive, 23 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A small, potentially pocket-sized (not for all) Index book that can be used for contacts' addresses or any other use that requires its information to be sorted alphabetically. If too large for a pocket, it will easily fit in any handbag, laptop case or other form of work or daily carry bag. The pages are feint ruled but otherwise not formatted into dedicated areas within the page, allowing any text format of any moderate length for the entries. For neatness and greater legibility, printed labels can be used rather than writing directly onto the pages. That allows the potential to update an entry by printing another label that is affixed over the older one rather than to messily cross out all or part of an entry and re-write it.

The "Notebook Casebound A6 Ruled A-Z Indexed 160 Pages 9100024 Each" is hard- rather than spiral- or ring-bound so the pages should remain in situ long-term although, as with any other, if used repeatedly over a very long period pages may eventually become loose.

Quite inexpensive, it will suit some users better than an A5 or A4 version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite wide, needs large lace holes, 22 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Their length is correctly stated but they are quite thick and wide - approx 8mm across - so may be a tight fit unless the lace holes are quite large. With a specific shoe with 6 pairs of lace holes, there isn't much free for tying especially as there is a wide spread across the tongue. That will not be true of all shoe designs but applies in this instance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Economical alternative to 256Gb version, 21 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An addition to a collection of the same capacity.

Although my media player will accept 256GB cards, these are a more economical and affordable alternative as, although 20% of the potential is lost, you could buy two of these for about the same amount.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful for calibration and reassurance, 21 Sept. 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars A good, comprehensive instructional guide to portraits, 19 Sept. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
"One Face, Fifty Ways: The Portrait Photography Ideas Book" is co-authored by Imogen Dyer and Mark Wilkinson who duplicate the roles played out in the book as model and photographer respectively in a 'popular' YouTube channel that was previously unknown. The book is small in size and page-count (sub-A4 and 160 pages) and was initially reviewed in isolation with no prior knowledge or conceptions of their YouTube personas although elements of the available content on the Channel were later viewed once an initial read-through was completed. Some of its images are those used here.

It is an ideas book rather than a masterclass and the photography is of a good rather than studio or top-end magazine standard and hints at the photographer needing a certain level of skill and competence, as does also the model. The authors have a several year-long working relationship that shows in the model's ease regardless of the pose, clothing or other aspects of any image. Some images border on 'glamour' and hint at something further but all are perfectly acceptable for readers whatever their age. The book shows what is achievable even without using a professional model although experience clearly helps. The images had been drawn form the pair's YouTube Channel whose content is regularly added; older material is available via its archive.

The book is worthy of consideration as is the referred YouTube channel with its many instructional videos and other material. This book reflects one photographer's and one model's approaches to portraiture and there are alternatives as may be reflected in the many other books on the subject.

Salter Ultimate Accuracy Dual Platform, White
Salter Ultimate Accuracy Dual Platform, White

5.0 out of 5 stars An innovation from an old, established brand, 19 Sept. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Standard kitchen scales are not usually accurate with very small amounts - a micro-scale is best for those - but are generally better with larger ones.

Salter have now introduced the "Salter Ultimate Accuracy Dual Platform, White" which incorporates two scales into a single body but with both using the same display. The larger platform of the pair will weigh dry ingredients up to 10 Kg in 1g increments, 22 lbs in 1/8 oz increments and liquid volumes to 10 litres in 1 ml increments or 350 fluid ounces in 1/8 fl.oz increments with their aquatronic system. The smaller platform has a 200g limit with 0.1g increments or 7 oz with 1/8 oz increments. It is an either/or situation as you will need to select which platform to use. Add and weigh, sometimes expressed as 'Tare' allows something to be weighed, the scales zeroed and something else added and weighed up to about the capacity limit for each section. The immediate negative about these scales is their physical size which is about that of a set of bathroom scales and will need a large work area and limit storage choices; it may be too wide for some cupboards and drawers.

There are three standard function buttons, Power, Zero, Units, although it is common to combine two (Power and Zero). There is also a fourth which is not textually labelled but uses icons to select between the two platforms; there is a small light to the side of each to show which is in use. Power is provided by three AAA batteries which are included but not installed and should last about a year if prior experience with other models is typical. The display is back-lit and sufficiently separated from the platforms to be usually readable and not obscured by a bowl or dish.

Salter's reputation is well-established but slightly tarnished in recent years by indifferent products. That may be a problem solved. Using the phrase 'Ultimate Accuracy' as part of the product's name suggests the recognition that all was not as well as it could be in the past and is remedied. The read-outs on this are perfectly stable, do not waver and the same item weighed on both platforms produced readings identical to within 0.5g in every instance using certified calibration weights once it had reached room temperature. However that was not initially true as there were consistent 3% errors when the package was first opened but, once acclimatized, that improved dramatically.

Despite considerable negative experience of the brand's past offerings, this is an example for them to follow although there is an issue with its pricing - there is an expected premium for accuracy but it may be too high.
