Bought this for 130 quid from Richer sounds outlet as I am listening to more and more PC based music. Was reasonably happy with the sound played from my Samsung PC through B&O PC4 speakers, but when I switched to headphones (B&WP5's), the sound was enclosed and not open at all and terrible even compared to playing directly from Ipod. So read all the reviews and decided to take the plunge even though 1 of the reviews said it was a 1 trick pony and only good for headphones ?????
Anyway, attached it up to my PC and headphones, supremely easy, you dont even have to go into the PC's control panel to tell it to bypass the soundcard the rPAC does all this for you, stuck on Tori Amos "Little Eartquakes" in MP3 format and WOW !!!! The music sort of opened up. The soundstage got wider, the bass lower and the vocals were superb.Decided to the try a lossless file, so switched to Sade greatesr hits in FLAC and the difference again was INCREDIBLE ! The detail was stunning, the reverberation of the drum on "Love is stronger than pride" can almost be felt, and the sound was like a warm glow all over.
Have since tried with my B&O 4's and am equally impressed with the sound enveloping you more like a 5.1 system, so much for the 1 trick pony comment, I now listen to this set up nearly as much as my main Hi Fi.
150 quid is not cheap, but I wholeheartedly recommend buying this product if you listen to a lot of PC based music.
