Star Wars R2D2 Pop Up Toy Storage Bin - White
Star Wars R2D2 Pop Up Toy Storage Bin - White
Price: £18.85

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last long, 30 Jun. 2017
The item looks great and could be so nice but it didn't last long. The wires started poking through the material after a couple of months.
Just not made sturdy enough to be of any long term use.
Shame

This does work. Kept me odour free from early morning util evening, however, after a couple of weeks use it gave me an itchy red rash so had to discontinue. Have tried the non-fragranced version too but again still gave me an itchy dry rash.

Shame

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT a childrens' film., 29 May 2017
I had seen trailers for this film and always thought it looked a bit peculiar but conceded to my 7 year old to buy this recently. We both enjoy spooky films and sci-fi, ParaNorman for example we loved, and others but I concur with the other reviewer on here, this is a very dark, twisted movie that is really NOT made for children but for an adult audience.

The opening titles shows the main witch character 'disembowling' a rag dolll and it is done in such a graphic fashion, the eyes plucked the mouth slit open, the stuffing falling and pulled out it all alludes to some gruesome horror movie.

The rest of the movie continues in the same vein, cockroaches on the wall are squished under her fingers by Coraline who then tries to rinse them off in the bathtub and soaks herself with blood red water from the shower.
The umbilical cord like tunnel she discovers behind a locked hidden small door takes her to a parallel world each night and to her "other" parents who have buttons for eyes and the mother wishes to entice Corlaline to stay by making everything fun in a peculiar kind of way.....
Creepy plants bite at her, but it tickles, creepy looking toys talk to her.
The old lady actresses who live in the apartment downstairs (French and Saunders) their apartment now turned into a bizarre theatre and their Taxi-dermied pet dogs brought to life as the audience, perform a weird opera, naked, save for nipple covers over ridiculously huge breasts with later suggestive song lyrics to suit......well you get the picture, every aspect of the film is either alluding to other well known adult horror or adult themed material. Everything is weird and nightmarish. A strange boy with an awkward nervous manner who makes friends with her, first appears chasing after her in an adapted welders mask that looks quite horrific.
There is little humour throughout.

Once Coraline discovers that her other mother actually want to sew buttons on her eyes too, yes SEW buttons onto her eyes, nice. It is too late and she it trapped in the alternative universe. She escapes after finding the very sad ghosts of other captured children, missing for decades, and then finds her real parents have been captured by the Witch too who has now transformed into a spider with sharp needles for hands that cut and stab at her as she tries to escape back through the tunnel.

So much of this is inappropriate and disturbing, I don't know why this was ever marketed as a kids Halloween film.
The world Coraline inhabits both real and parallel is really the stuff of nightmares to children (and adults). The tunnel that appears behind a door in your house, having your eyes removed and buttons sewn on, your parents disappearing, the really disturbing, dark apartment they live in, a landscape outside filled with nothing but mud.... It so alludes to so many adult horror films take your pick, Poltergeist, It, The Twighlight Zone movie, Texas Chain saw massacre... elements of all these you can find in this film.

It may have a PG rating but the twisted nature and implied sadism, violence and very dark nature of so much of it I would strongly advise parents to at least watch it first and decide if its appropriate.

Thankfully a lot of this went over my daughters head but she just thought it was "dumb". But I found it all nasty and twisted.
I love spooky and classic horror films but this had touches of cruelty and sadism that made me feel really uncomfortable, If you like the very dark, the very gothic you will probably love this but really it is NOT a kids film.

Enjoy it as an adult.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hooray, 12" Rey figure at last !, 25 Sept. 2016
I agree the likeness is a little severe on this figure, however I'm just pleased Hasbro have at last got a 12" Rey figure !
She was missed out of the 12" line completely for ages.

At last my daughter can now add Rey, her favourite character, to her other 12" star wars figures.

Now how about Princess Leia ? We've only seen her a as a very expensive 12" Kenner doll

5.0 out of 5 stars Shiver me timbers.....there be a pirate in our house, 11 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have just bought this set for my 6 year old daughter.

Upon perusing a recent Playmobil catalogue that they like to entice the kddies with, she fell completely in love with the Treasure Island Playmobil set, so we'll see about that for Xmas, but we decided to get her to this little set as a Summer Holiday treat.

I know Playmobil is always hard to beat for play value and creativity with most of their sets and this is no different. I didn't realise until we got it but the treasure on the rock can be hidden by a flip over mechanism, leaving the rock with only scorpions in its place. How cool is that !
Then there is the creepy skull with the crown on (the right amount of spooky/Pirates of the caribbean-esque for small children) a cool treasure chest that opens to allow for filling with any booty, the treasure map also looks brilliant too, and a cutlass can even be slotted into a crevice on the rock.

She/(We!) have played with this non stop since she got it, creating countless story lines - Don't remove the crown from the skull !!..... as it unleashes no end of Indiana Jones style shooting darts and rolling boulders...... you know the sort of thing. All in all lots and lots of fun to be had.

For the price this is worth every penny,
The amount of detail, the number of pieces to play with and also the fact that it includes a female pirate (something she was looking for in all the sets available) has made it a winner in our house.

Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Problems with Build quality., 24 Jun. 2016
In terms of actual vacuuming performance this is excellent. It is light weight, low profile (can hoover under the sofa and furniture easily) and suction and battery are absolutely excellent, it picks up cat hairs with ease and is easy to empty.

The faulty lies in the build quality. We have just had our 2nd Gtech vacuum go Kaput !

As someone else has said the fault seems to be with the cog spindle on the motor which is made of plastic and isn't robust enough.
We have also had to have the batteries replaced with both of our Gtechs (thankfully done free of charge when we called GTech as the batteries just failed)
And also the handle which was attached with a plastic clip broke on our first GTech.

I have found their customer service very good but it just seems the robustness of this machine doesn't quite cut the mustard.

Both vacuums lasted little over 2 years, with the added issue of new batteries too on both.

It is such a shame as on all other levels this beats all the competitors but just put off replacing it with another one to get these same issues.

1.0 out of 5 stars Have just looked online to see the accompanying dolls and this doll looks nothing like the doll in the animation, 7 May 2016
In the animation Theresa has brown skin and my daughter identified her as the black girl in it (Like me).
Have just looked online to see the accompanying dolls and this doll looks nothing like the doll in the animation ? She looks like a white doll ? Ditto the Renee doll who we took for oriental in the animation. The Dolls MISS completely. Why do they always do this with Barbie ?
It is clearly racist marketing, along the lines of don't make them too black or ethnic ? "It won't sell" etc ..... well last time I looked Doc Mc Stuffins didnt seem to do too badly with all young children, ditto all the monster high dolls which have all different colour complexions and hair types and which my daughter loves.
At last an Action Barbie but "..in any colour as long as its white"

Sad. No wonder Barbie is losing popularity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where's Rey ?!, 21 Dec. 2015
This is a really lovely toy. It feels well made and the sound effects and motion sensors details are really a nice touch.
Theres a good play area inside so my daughter can act out scenes from the film.
Looks like it will work with the other 3.75" figures from the film too which is great.

Very cool to have Chewie in it too and Finn is a really, really great new character my daughter loves.
My only complaint is the rather glaring omission of Rey !

REY is the pilot of the Millennium falcon in the new film. She repairs and fixes it etc etc..... Finn acts as the gunner.

So where is she in this toy ?!

This toy should have had both Finn and Rey.

Ho Hum.

Disney Princess Tiana Toddler Doll

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Disney princess doll, 3 Dec. 2015
This is just a Beautiful doll.
This toddler series are different to the Disney store line "Animator" toddler dolls, and a little cheaper, but I almost prefer this version for some reason?
It is a beautiful interpretation of Tiana, our daughters favourite princess. The hair is lovely (so pleased they retained the curls).
The dress is stunning with detail from the film and the doll has what they refer to as "Royal reflection" eyes, its hard to see in the box but think they reflect an image from the film ?
Her facial feature are beautifully recreated. Some of the other Toddler series don't manage that as well.
I highly recommend this Tiana doll any little girl (or collector !) would love.
