Cut-Throat Defence: The dramatic, twist-filled legal thriller (Jack Kowalski Thriller Book 1)
Price: £2.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, 30 Oct. 2016
This legal thriller had me hooked from the first page until the very last. The ending is a little bit Disneyesque happy ever after but four of us read it on holiday and none of us could put it down. Doesn't disappoint.

A Little Life
A Little Life
Price: £1.19

4.0 out of 5 stars emotionally harrowing, 18 Aug. 2016
This review is from: A Little Life (Kindle Edition)
Compelling to read but by the end I was relieved it was over, perhaps that was the whole point. Beautiful yet utterly harrowing, painful and disturbing. Definitely not an easy read or for the faint hearted. The absence of developed female characters was striking for me. In the end I couldn't help but love Jude the way everyone else did and felt so helpless that he was so beyond reach.
Read it, but know it's not going to be a happy read!

by Sara Gruen
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.98

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, compelling and very special read, 14 Jun. 2010
I will be buying this book for friends this Christmas. It's going in my top 10 favourite books - a lovely story, a very different setting, great characterisation bringing the travelling circus magically to life off the pages. I can't recommend it highly enough. Just beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it - A must read, 19 April 2010
This book is lovely. Such a great character - you can't help but fall in love with Edgar. Such a life story...brave, innocent, funny, heart warming and very moving in places. Have given it to lots of friends and they couldn't put it down either. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Holiday Read, 19 April 2010
This review is from: One Day (Paperback)
This is a good, page turning, sitting in the sun, not very taxing on the brain, light read! Bit predictable in places. But enjoyable in a similar vein to Starter for Ten. Am a bit bemused by the other reviews saying it's the best book they'd ever read. It's good and I'd recommend it, but what have the others been reading??

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated classic. Great Xmas gift for children, 17 Nov. 2009
This review is from: A Christmas Carol (Hardcover)
Medium size type that makes it easier for less confident readers to read, but not too large that accomplished readers won't pick it up! Beautifully illustrated , making this classic more interesting to read and brings Dickens to a new audience. Would make a lovely gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny!, 17 Nov. 2009
Read it on a long haul flight and found myself laughing out loud several times. Everyone on the plane must have thought I was the village idiot sitting there chuckling away but couldn't help it. And I rarely laugh out loud when reading so that says a lot! A very witty 'light read'...It's not deeply profound, it doesn't really tell you anything you didn't already know or imagine they'd be like, and frustratingly they don't really dish any dirt or share any showbiz gossip. But it gives an nice insight into their personalities through their chatty narrative and their great friendship.
