5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, entertaining and important, 16 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this 3-disc boxset because I am a fan of Stephen Fry and also an animal lover. It follows Stephen and the animal expert Mark Carwardine around the world to visit 6 critically endangered species to see if they still exist in the wild. There are two animals per disc. The Amazonian Manatee & the Northern white Rhino, The Aye Aye and Komodo dragon, The Kakapo & blue whale- and they touch on several other animals along the way. They also cover conservation efforts surrounding these animals.

I would say it is 50% a documentary on animals, and 50% travel adventure undertaken by Stephen and Mark. I found it very entertaining and charming and well worth watching.

If you like the discovery channel and you like Stephen Fry then this set if for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars funny collection of short rants, 2 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I first need to say that all of these little "rants" are available online for free. I bought the DVD to have them all together because I found them very funny online and it was priced just under 10quid. Some are funnier than others and its definitely not a DVD to watch all the way through as they can get a little monotonous. They are great for a little one-a-day laugh though. This is a 2-disk set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great update to the Sherlock Holmes stories, 6 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We watched this last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law are fantastic. The story is shot the same way as the first film with the slow-motion bits where Sherlock is thinking about his next move. I love this modern cinema technique but older family member found it difficult to follow at times. Maybe just a generational thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series, 6 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I already own series 1-3 of Kingdom and this was purchased as a gift for family who have also told me they are enjoying it. Kingdom is a great family show that the BBC just don't make enough of. Stephen Fry is wonderful as the local solicitor who deals with some very odd local problems. Its quite sweet and funny in places. I would recommend this to anyone- especially those who enjoys Doc Martin and the like.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice overview of Australia nasties, 6 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a thin over sized A5 paperback book. On each page you have a photo of the poisonous creature, a few remarks about where it likes to live and how to identify it, and also a 1st aid suggestion if you are stung. It isn't comprehensive or very detailed but it gives nice top line information. It would be good as a first book for children.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, 6 Jun. 2012

I received this DVD from Amazon yesterday and I've already watched the first couple of episodes. It is a lot like an updated version of Alan Davies "The Brief" as barristers fight for cases and prestige, but with less humor. So far I'm enjoying. Not sure if I'll order series 2 yet though.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great cheesy movie for kids, 1 Jun. 2012

Matthew Perry stars as a teacher who moves from a nice suburban school to one in Haarlem to do his bit for troubled kids. The story is nice and easy to watch. It has some nice inspirational and moral messages thru it too.

I bought this series as I'd seen other good reviews of it and usually like Rupert P-J's acting. This is a modern take on a series of killings inspired by the Jack the Ripper murders. There are a couple of nice plot twist in the middle that keep you guessing and right up to the last minute you don't know who is the murderer. The whole family enjoyed it and we have already ordered series 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic JC, 23 May 2012

Another great mystery from JC. Well worth watching, if only they'd make more! He has a new assistant that is my least favorite of the three that he has been paired with over the years. The episode was a special and comes in a single DVD case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great book from May, 23 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am a fan of James May and have purchased most of his published works. I like his chatty, conversational style. There are lots of fun little stories and facts about great things that were invented at home in the garden shed by normal people rather than in a lab with a team of experts. Well worth reading if you like May's other books.
