5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Elm Street Fans, 7 May 2012

Highly recommended. It is the perfect companion to the films.

The documentary itself lasts just under 4 hours, each film gets at least 25 minutes dedicated to it, and Freddy's Nightmares and New Line Cinema get a brief discussion as well. Asides from Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette more or less everyone from the 8 films is interviewed. I watched the whole documentary in one sitting, at no point does it drag. It isn't just talking heads there are interesting behind the scenes photos and videos, some of which feature unused special effects and deleted scenes - including a replacement for Robert Englund if he had wanted to much of a pay rise for the second film, I'll say this, thankfully the two parties came to agreement! The interviewees don't just pander to one another and pat each other on the back, they are quick to point out flaws in their own performances and disappointment with others.

The disc also features an incredible amount of extras.

There are behind the scenes features on most of the films, ranging from a few seconds (!) to well over 90 minutes for the third and fourth films. TV specials not seen since the original air date make this up, but mostly it is footage camcorder shot and is fascinating to see how the films where put together, and how special effects were shot.

Deleted interviews from the main documentary last over and hour, and are as interesting as the main feature.

There are several featurettes focusing on Heather Langenkamp, Freddy's glove, poster art, music of Elm Street and filming locations.

I will say this on closing, I have been a Elm Street/Freddy fan for over 18 years, have seen previous documentaries and read horror magazines, but there was a wealth of information on this Blu Ray that I did not know beforehand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive Starting Point, 19 Mar. 2006
This is the first Spider-Man graphic novel I've read. It covers issues 47-52 of "The Amazing Spider-Man", and features two extra stories ("The Web and the Flame" featuring The Human Torch of Fantastic Four, and, "In the Clutches of The Kingpin").
There are several of these Marvel Pocket Books, and for only a couple of pounds they are excellent value. They are a good starting point if you're starting off a collection, or just want a taste of what the comics are about. Although reprinted on a smaller page than the originals they are in full colour unlike other collected value books.
I enjoyed each story, despite none of my favourite villians being involved. The villians on show in this collection are The Vulture, Kingpin, Kraven The Hunter, The Wizaed and Mysterio.
All in all good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Good Fun!, 23 July 2004
This review is from: Puppet Master 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I've always been a horror movie fan, but I've avoided this series for years. Mainly because there are that many films, and not a lot of them are widely available in this country. But just recently I had the pleasure of seeing the first two films, and I enjoyed them that much that I've ordered the 8-Disc boxset of the series from Canada, via Amazon.
These films aren't scary, and don't have too much gore, but they're just good fun! Most of the Puppets are likeable and although the effects aren't great (it's hard to suspend disbelief on occasion)you just can't wait to catch another glimpse of them in action.
A brief description of the films would be that the puppets are controlled by their master and have to kill for him, but they aren't adverse to turning on him if his plans affect their wellbeing!
In this second film, there is a new puppet added to the gang, Torch. I'd say he was the best of the lot to. He comes complete with a flame thrower attached to his arm!
These films are all strictly B-movie, but there is a magic about them (obviously, or there wouldn't be eight films!). This is a good fun film, nad highly recommended. Seek it out!

I watched this film in an edited form when I was younger and wasn't too impressed but saw it again recently and really enjoyed it. The film does have some originality about it.
I wouldn't say this was at all scary but it is good fun and you can't help but love some of the puppet characters (Blade I particulary like).
For a direct-to-video release this effects are good, on occasion you can tell the puppets aren't real, but most of the time they look as though they really do move on their own.
If you like B-movies you will enjoy this, it's just a bit of fun really!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Film., 16 July 2004
This review is from: Fist Of Unicorn [DVD] (DVD)
Wow! A budget release Bruce Lee film, that actually does feature the REAL Bruce Lee!
Bruce Lee acted as action director (which means fight choreographer) for this film and also has a very small cameo.
The picture isn't great, it feels stretched out and on occasion features a lot of grain.
The DVD has two short, but interesting, featurettes. Which is nice for a budget release.
The film itself is pretty good, a revenge tale similar to a couple of Bruce Lee's films. The fight scenes are entertaining, and from watching this film I can see why their is such a loyal fanbase to these 1970's Chinese/Hong Kong Martial-Arts films. They are often poorly acted and dubbed but this film isn't.
This film is mainly for Bruce Lee completists, but even if you're not a big fan it's a very good film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Enjoyable Horror Comedy, 12 July 2004
This is a very entertaining film, well-made, and has a good cast including amongst others, Dee Wallace Stone and Billy Zane.
We start off in space and the 'Krites' have just escaped from their maximum security prison. They steal a space ship and crash land on Earth. Poor Bastards!
The Krites look like a cross between a Porcupine and a Hedgehog, only with big teeth, and an appetite to match. They will eat anything, even humans. And so the fun begins.
The action takes place in a small American town, and mostly on a farm a good stretch away from the main town.
This is a very funny film, and maybe a little scary to youngsters, but they shouldn't be watching this anyway.
I highly recommend this film and it's sequel, which is even better.

This is a brilliant. I consider it to be a true masterpiece.
This is a dubbed Italian film but the acting is realy good. This film is like a whodunnit, only with good gore scenes, nothing over-the-top but more violent than most films take it. Tensely built up and a few moments that will make you jump.
If you watch 'Scream' then you will see how they stole a lot of ideas from this film, seeing as how Kevin Williamson wrote that I'm not at all surprised.
Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs In The Middle, 8 July 2004
I waited a long time to see this film. I'd heard that this film was a cross between 'Bloodsport' and the 'Mortal Kombat' games. Where most of the action takes place in tournament fighting. And also because Tong Po returned to the franchise.
Well this isn't a bad film but I was disappointed by it. The film is advertised along the lines of what Ive written above, but it turns out to be a non-event.
The story is that David Sloane (Sasha Mitchell) has been framed for a crime he didn't committ and Tong Po is ex-rival has kidknapped his wife and holds her as a sex slave. Tong Po is a wanted man though so the Police release Sloane to 'take care' of Tong Po. Anyway Sloane manages to enter Tong Po's own tournament but the two never fight as part of the tournament, and although Sloane does give Tong Po a good hiding he never gets sufficent revenge for what he and his wife have been put through.
It is very violent and was once banned for it. Tong Po is not played by Michel Qissi in this film. He is played by Kamel Krifa. Although Krifa is a lot smaller than Qissi, the makers of the film could have gotten away with it, if they had the character say very little. However they don't and for a couple of reasons Tong Po comes off as quite camp rather that intimidating.
Criticisms aside this isn't a bad film, it's quite good but with an unsatisfactory ending, leaving the opportunity for another sequel (which did happen but has no relation at all to any of the other films or characters). Brainless action thriller, if you like that sort of stuff it's worth a watch.

Do you like films with swearing dolls? How about evil, laughing clown jack-in-the-boxes? If so then this is for you.
Not a great movie but it has its moments, mainly funny ones. A cop gets trapped inside a toy warehouse with a criminal, a security guard and a pizza delivery boy. Inside this factory is an evil force which makes the toys come to life. Not particulary scary, if you like a cheap horror movie this is for you.
Only extras on the DVD are film trailers. Fullframe picture.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent sequel, 6 July 2004
First there was 'From Dusk Till Dawn' a roller coaster ride of gore and excitement with a good plot. Then there was the sequel 'Texas Blood Money' a francise-killer of a movie. It was terrible, but based on the first film a lot watched it and it did well in the rental charts.
'Hangman's Daughter' is a very respectable entry in this series. A million times better than 'Texas Blood Money'. This film is a prequel, and tells us the origins of Santanico Pandemonium (the character played so sexily by Salma Hayek in the original). Unfortunately Hayek doesn't reprise her role, but it doesn't seem to effect the story as this is set before she's a vampire.
This film is a little more like the original. Set in the Wild West most of the action takes place once again in the 'Titty Twister' (sans electronic sign). There is some decent gore, humour and good b-movie cast.
Overall if you liked the first film in the series, you should enjoy this. The DVD also features one short deleted scene.
