3.0 out of 5 stars King George, 16 Mar. 2004
This review is from: Patience (Audio CD)
We've waited years for this, the latest opus by George Michael. Is it any good?....With reservations, this is a substantial, good release. The CD starts well with Amazing, Cars and Trains, Round Here..then sort of drifts before pushing the boat out again with Precious Box. Freeek (in whatever form) and Shoot the Dog are still rubbish. With over 70 minutes of music perhaps there is too much to digest, and I believe other tracks will identify themselves as growers. It will no doubt sell by the truckload, and oust Dido as essential dinner party music. In a nutshell, it's worth buying..mature, sophisticated, tuneful pop music. Please vacate the throne Elton and arise King George!

4.0 out of 5 stars All Saints girls done good!, 27 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Everything's Eventual (Audio CD)
Who would have thought? The two blondes ex-members of All Saints making a halfway decent record? In fact, a pretty damn good one. Their role on this, their first solo venture, is regulated to vocals and lyric writing with a team of experienced musicians doing the rest. It’s catchy, most songs have soaring chorus and catchy hooks. The mood is mostly urban, street-wise and sassy, not dissimilar to All Saints in fact. However, whereas All Saints were mostly a singles outfit and their albums never really cut it, this is surprisingly coherent and of consistent quality. Current faves are Don’t Worry (Oasis watch out!), Everything Eventually, Ring-A-Ding-Ding (excellent groove despite the title) and Long Long Road. The girls prove excellent singers and the harmonies sound heavenly. A great debut and this deserves to do well.
