5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal choice for DIY loving fantasy creatures!, 23 Dec. 2014
I have wreaked much havoc on concrete render with this mighty weapon. I call it “the sword of Elendil” and have etched a device of seven stars set between the crescent moon and the rayed sun upon it’s shaft, encircled with many runes to bring great luck when we do battle upon our cementitious foemen. I was not greatly pleased with the original blade, but have since purchased a replacement which was forged by Elvish smiths at Bosch. This new blade has an edge which is hard and keen and, when it was conjoined with the mighty “sword of Elendil”, the sun shone redly upon it and did cause the walls of rendered Victorian brick to shake and wail with fear at their impending doom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Game! Unfortunately unsuitable for many dogs., 26 Sept. 2014
I purchased this for my four year old Red Setter, Alberic, having been advised by his "dog trainer" that he showed signs of unusually high intelligence for a dog. Based on our experience with this particular game I have to conclude that his so called "intelligence" has been greatly exaggerated and I've unfortunately entered into a protracted and ongoing legal battle with the "dog training school" in question. In a purely human setting, I must say that the game is excellent and has provided my Mother, Grandmother and myself with many evenings of fun, unsullied by the filth that seems to be the only substance that the television seems to be capable of providing in this day and age. With Alberic however, the game never really got off the ground. Despite more than ten minutes of patient and careful explanation, he simply didn't seem to understand even the most basic rules, and after several hours of perseverance I must admit to failure. Alberic has now eaten four sets of dice (eight die in total), which promises a miserable and smelly day of board-game ancillary recovery tomorrow. Good, but not great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not really Disco, 29 Dec. 2012
This is great, but not really recognisable from the disco I used to enjoy in the 1970s.
To be honest, I think Tina has done a great job here, an easy-listening, enjoyable and thought-provoking future classic, brilliant.
My only criticism?: If you're going to adopt "Disco" as your surname, please, please, please at least reference the genre!!!

Root Cellaring: Natural Cold Storage of Fruits and Vegetables
Root Cellaring: Natural Cold Storage of Fruits and Vegetables

5.0 out of 5 stars Is there nothing the Italian-Canadian singing superstar can't do?, 20 Dec. 2012
I enjoyed Michael Bublé's eponymous debut album, and the three subsequent ones, so I was delighted to discover that he also shares my love of cellared vegetables. In this, his first non-musical work, Bublé describes the various, long forgotten techniques for practical, non-refrigeration based storage of carrots, parsnips, potatoes and many more roots.

Well done Michael - I enjoyed this immensely and look forward to further self-sufficiency based titles from you in the future!

There's nothing more Christmassy than Bublé, and this would make a unique seasonal gift for the 'fan who has everything'!

Salad Bar Beef
Salad Bar Beef
by Joel Salatin
Edition: Paperback
Price: £23.74

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, 9 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Salad Bar Beef (Paperback)
Joel Salatin is an inspirational writer and credible author (he's actually practiced what he preaches!) - this particular book is fantastic. Salatin explains key principles in simple and accessible language, and manages to convey his own energy and 'can-do' attitude really well.

It's not a text-book, and isn't sufficient to produce an action plan to start a sustainable, successful pasture-based beef farm but is a great start!
