Colditz, the German Story
Colditz, the German Story
by Reinhold Eggers
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.08

4.0 out of 5 stars Great "other side of the coin" perspective, 24 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a truly remarkable book. Written by Eggers the camp security officer i was astounded by the admiration he had for the POWs. He constantly praises the POWs for there ingenuity & escape attempts. He was a old school military man & totally understood that it was POWs duty to try & escape.
I would, if you are into Colditz stuff, recommend that you get this.
The only down side is the English is a little odd in places

If you own or going to own a Nikon D3100 then this is ESSENTIAL! Do not even turn on your camera until you have read the first chapter of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars At long last!!!, 30 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have been waiting for this for many many years. I was so obsessed with this when i was a child in the 1970's that i tried to dig a tunnel from my parents garden shed under a wall & escape into a neighbours garden! I took me days & was never completed but gave me a very small insite into the effort needed for such a feat. Even if the guards on duty were my parents..
Well i am now in my 40's & have been to Colditz castle for real. It is a truly stunning place sitting high above the small weaving town. That now famous view of the battlements is just as powerfull as i thought it would be.
This series was a real landmark for the BBC & it's viewers. It was a starkly accurate portrail of life within the POW camp. They even had Major PR Reid, a survivor of the castle, on board as technical adviser.
Well done BBC for getting round to releasing this, albeit 30 years to late

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 7 Dec. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great piece of gear & one i think everyone should have, always good to reg backup your files.
I ordered it on Thurs & Fri morning it had arrived, great service Amazon.
Install is the easiest i have ever known, plug in the PSU & the USB & my PC saw it straight away.
The only slight draw back (which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5) is the external PSU. This really does not bother me but could be a problem for some users if your not in the office etc.
Runs very quiet. Infact if it were not for the stunning pulsating yellow strip you would'nt even know it was working. File transfere very fast.
Over all, top marks

5.0 out of 5 stars You dont get much more abrasive than this, 12 Jun. 2004
I bought this album when it originally came out in 83/84. The cover announced "The most abrasive album you'll evver buy" & this was reinforced by covering the album in sand-paper.I had to have it imported specially & i think i was one of the only people to have a copy in the UK for years.
The Feederz are a strange bunch, Frank Discussion, the vocalist/guitar takes to the stage wearing see through poly bags, which he still does today as they are still doing various shows in California. DH Peligro, drummer with seminal punk band The Dead Kennedys, was the original drummer.
As for the songs, every track is superb! Some of the most offensive material you will ever hear, yet it retains a sense of humour & an honesty that is rare in music today.
I cannot tell you how excited I am that it is now on CD in the UK, as my vinyl copy is totally worn out. Surely that is a recommendation in itself.
Buy Buy Buy for a sip of the US white pepsi-cola generation.
