Quite a decent watch, pacing is quite slow and builds. Some good suspenseful moments, they seemd to rush the ending though.
Its okay, worth a watch if you are looking for that spooky footage type horror

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant alternative history novel, 10 Mar. 2010
This review is from: The Foresight War (Paperback)
I came across this book whilst looking for a secret santa present for a fan of WW1 and WW2 history. I ended up buying an extra copy for myself based on the excellent review of the recipient.

I had often wondered about a lot of the great "what if" questions tackled in this book especially around the theme of a better equipped and trained British Army and Airforce and how the Germans would have faired had they went straight for Moscow as well as an improved British response in the East to Japan.

There are niggles with the book such as typos etc but this is a self published book and I doff my cap to anyone who publishes, especially such a well thought out and researched book as this.

The author is infinetely knowledgeable about the war especially the technical aspects of weaponry and their battlefield performance. This isnt so much a novel as a story that facilitates an alternative strategy to WW2.

An excellent read and if Anthony Williams produces another work along similar lines.....I would certainly purchase.

Well done again on publishing this brilliant work and another well done for the excellent sales this book has already achieved especially for a self published novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Grave Thief, 19 Jan. 2009

The Grave Thief

In 2007 I discovered a number of new authors that I had previously missed - Joe Abercrombie and Tom Lloyd being two of the best of them.

Abercrombie has a real edge of realism, and lashings of Dark humour, whilst the Tom Lloyd books are pure epic fantsay with strong characters and an ever deepening plot.

The Grave thief picks up from Book 2 "The Twighlight Reign" and continues the story from the destruction of Scree, which has left many scars, physical and emotional on a large portion of the characters. This is by far the darkest of the three books to date with more prominence given to the darker characters, their plots and schemes and the widening effect of their actions on the world.

The Grave Thief in my opinion is the most accomplished of the 3 books Tom Loyd has written and those who have read parts 1 and 2 of this series will only be delighted with the Grave Thief. The book sets up the final installments perfectly and is a seriously hard book to put down, such is the pace of events and the involving nature of all the characters and plots.

I would recommend this series of books to any fan of the fantasty genre - or anyone who wants a meaty series of books which are heavilly chracter driven.
