5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary, Exciting, Engaging, Eriginal (I needed another E), 15 Dec. 2009
This review is from: Fill It Up With Ghosts (Audio CD)
I've just listened to this band live on Jez Nelson's Jazz on three. Wow, it is so great to hear fresh exciting and new music. Sort of funk metal jazz groove improv structured avant-garde with a touch of electronics. When I say improv though this band is TIGHT. They give the impression of making the music up on the spot and yet they are so together they have obviously spent countless hours rehearsing these pieces. The trio consisting of guitar, saxophone and drums with electronics will impress you to pieces. Looking for something new and exciting, then purchase this CD. Let's hear it for Trio Valentine's Day.

This is quite possibly the most passionate of Paco's playing. It is personal to his own family and the melodies, feel and originality here probably surpass all his other albums. PACO AT HIS PERSONAL BEST.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is so musical - MAGNIFICENT, 4 Oct. 2009
Are you a diverse musical person? I mean do you like different musical genres, whether it be: swing, jazz, latin, Russian polka (cossack), English folk, jewish, operatic and heavy metal? How about it all being wrapped up in one? Well folks this CD is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. How utterly refreshing this band is. You have all the above musical styles going on but bedded in some incredible and intelligent heavy metal riffing. This is very EXCITING. Possibly someone might say there are too many musical styles going on and that would be a fair statement but for me it only keeps it interesting and exciting all the way through the 48 minutes. Great musicianship and I thank the Lord Jesus for giving these guys so much talent. Purchase and ENJOY.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This book is well written. The descriptions are such that if you close your eyes you can picture the scenes; the island and its life forms are described in minute detail, brilliant. It would make a good movie, like Jurassic Park it is full of surprises and suspense. The scientific detail at the beginning of the book seemed to be overdone at first but as the story evolved so all the scientific details dropped into place and made more sense.

I will definitely read this one again and encourage others to read it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mmm!, 26 Mar. 2009
This review is from: Crack the Skye (Audio CD)
I'm afraid I have to agree with many of the reviewers here that this is a little disappointing. If this album had come out after 'Leviathan', I would have thought 'wonderful', great musical progress. However in the light of the collosus that is 'Blood Mountain' truly one of the most incredible progressive rock/metal albums of all time, then this pales somewhat. It's still brilliant musicianship, better than most bands and I like the clean singing - long may it live but the songs and arrangements are a step back from the old blood mountain. I listened to BM about ten times in the first week I had it, something I rarely do. However it is still a decent prog/rock CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Sublime! Wonderful., 14 Feb. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Forget all the talk on guitar heroes and look at the genuine article. Wes Montgomery for me is the ultimate jazz guitarist. Like Hendrix or Reinhardt in their categories he was a pure natural and redefined the instrument. His chordal voicings are sublime and his bebop solos and inherent swing and groove are just out of this world. Filmed performances of Wes are rare but here we have three magnificent gigs across Europe beautifully filmed for its time and great sound quality to boot. It's great to just see him chilling and talking to his fellow musicians as well, before launching off into a sublime piece of jazz guitar. This really is one of those 'if I was only to buy one music DVD this year' DVDs. Genius.

...there is brilliance, then genius and then there is Jimi Hendrix.

The most astonishing thing of all is that you reading this are an electric guitar fan and you STILL HAVEN'T GOT THIS ALBUM!!

Wow! - it can't be bettered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing people, 21 Dec. 2008
I obtained this gig on video some 25 years ago and of course it was exciting because it is Jimi Hendrix. Just looking at him seems to be interesting - you see I was one of the biggest fans and collectors in the world at that time. However musically this is one of the poorest shows Jimi ever played. The second gig that night was so much better but unfortunately was not filmed. C'est la vie, it is Jimi Hendrix though.
