Terrible build quality, flimsy and not especially good looking either. would have expected this kind of quality if i'd paid less than 50p. Rip-off, avoid.

Perfectly good hat - looks good, fits well, surprisingly warm, good quality as a brand like "Vans" would lead you to expect. Very pleased, may well order one or two more of different colours if they'd drop the price a little.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Knight Rises Steelbook, 29 Jun. 2013

I'm guessing that plenty of people reading this review will have seen this movie and know how fantastic it is. If you haven't, then make sure you watch the first two films before this one - as an end to the trilogy it is brilliant. While it can be viewed as a standalone film, it makes MUCH more sense after you've seen Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and can be appreciated all the more as a splendid piece of filmmaking.

Onto the Blu-Ray itself. The picture quality is absolutely fantastic - this is the best of the films to get on blu-ray as it has the most IMAX footage in it (about 72 minutes worth, or a third of the film all told - compared to about 26 minutes for The Dark Knight). When it switches to IMAX, the aspect ratio flips to fill your whole television, creating a fantastically detailed and immersive image. This is only available on the blu-ray - the DVD keeps the same 16:9 aspect ratio throughout. Nolan utilises IMAX well, from simple establishing shots to whole chase and fight sequences. Sequences such as the plane hijacking and the bomb chase sequence are made to stand out all the more with the visual gravitas the IMAX lends them. Sound-wise, this is a film that demands to be watched loudly - if you set the volume low, dialogue (especially Bane or Lt. Gordon when he is hospitalised) can easily be lost. Instead, turn this film up loud, and take this as an opportunity to really give your sound system a workout, to truly lose yourself in the high spectacle of this grand finale to one of the greatest trilogies ever made in any genre.

The special features (on a second disc) are fantastic - detailed, interesting and informative, by far the best special features of all of Nolan's Batman films.

The steelbook itself is also worthy of mention. The artwork chosen for both the exterior and interior of the case really is superb, encapsulating the spirit of the film well. The case also has a much more premium and moody feel to it, which compliments the film in a way that the regular blu-ray case doesn't - whilst the cover art on that is fine, the back loses any sense of artistic merit in it's use of bright garish colours that boast of the special features contained in the pack. All that is lost in the steelbook feature-wise is the UV copy, which is fine by me as I have found it to be a poor, flawed substitute for a real iTunes digital copy.

This steelbook, then, is a worthy collectors piece to celebrate a real feat of film-making, and (when viewed alongside the rest of the trilogy) a series that perhaps represents the peak of Christopher Nolan's career so far - to my mind the greatest living director (with the possible exception of Steven Spielberg). This item comes thoroughly recommended!

Les Misérables - Limited Edition Digibook (Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UV Copy) [2012]

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC FANTASTIC - apart from some slightly dodgy cinematography :), 13 May 2013

I never normally pre-order things from Amazon, but I saw that this film had a digibook edition and i felt that instant pang of "I MUST OWN YOU"! Any film you see at the cinema more than once is most definitely worth buying ASAP in my opinion! I activated my free Prime membership especially so I could take advantage of Amazon's Release Day Delivery service, and was not disappointed - the film came out today, and it was sitting on my kitchen table when I got home. Fantastic service from Amazon as usual.

Onto the product itself. While many may complain that this particular digibook contains no behind-the-scenes information unlike, say, the Jaws digibook, and has just over half the number of pages, I am not as concerned. While it would have been nice to see some script excerpts or more pictures of the film being shot, the special features on the disc are more than satisfactory (I watched them as soon as I could!), and the artwork inside is well chosen and fantastically presented, especially the shot of the barricades from the end of the film. All in all, this is a very well-made and handsome product, something to cherish and show off when friends come around.

And after you've finished showing them the packaging, you can show them the film itself! Not only is this a fantastic film, but the transfer onto Blu-ray is flawless. The visuals are stunning and the sound really packs a punch - truly a disc to show off what your home setup can do.

Anne Hathaway richly deserves her Oscar for her performance as Fantine, and it really is a shame that Hugh Jackman had such stiff competition for the Best Actor award. Indeed, this is perhaps the best-cast film I have ever seen, and everyone puts in a sterling performance - especially Eddie Redmayne, whose rendition of "Empty Chairs At Empty Tables" has me welling up every time.

Need I say more?? Don't wait til it gets cheaper, buy yourself a copy now! You'll not regret it.

After the shockingly awful Quantum Of Solace, this film really was a welcome return to form. I am certainly glad I celebrated this fact by buying this limited edition steelbook.

It feels absolutely gorgeous in the hand, and the artwork on both the outside and the inside really feels very special.

Yes, there are no extra features over the regular blu-ray, but you really don't care after you've held this for the first time. The digital copy works well in both my Android phone and my iPod.

I only really have two bugbears about this product - the more serious of which is the DVD. It is the American format (NTSC), so if you were really hoping to utilise this extra disc, check that this DVD works in your DVD players. However, this is also true of the regular blu-ray. My other gripe is very minor - it would just be really nice to know how limited the production of this fantastic product is, and therefore how rare it is.

However, that's a very minor concern. Neither of these issues should stop you buying this - such a great film should be celebrated, and these limited edition steelbooks are going out of stock fairly quickly - grab one while you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Casino Royale Deluxe DVD - absolutely gorgeous!, 20 Mar. 2013

The presentation of this boxset is absolutely gorgeous - thick cardboard, great finishes, fantastic photography all over the box. There's even a handy little booklet inside, very lavishly printed and containing some interesting factual snippets. Again, it's also packed with gorgeous photography. It certainly feels very special, as it should: this is a definingly brilliant reboot of the Bond series, and this boxset is a worthy celebration of this fact.

I assume that everyone reading this knows what a great film this is - arguably better than Skyfall, and MILES better than the (dire) Quantum Of Solace. Fantastic performances throughout, and a much better storyline than either of the films that bookend it within the series.

The extras here are many, as one would expect with three discs. They're all very well shot and very interesting, especially the "For Real" and "Death In Venice" featurettes. For this reason alone it's worth buying this boxset. Get this while you can, you won't regret it.

So I got this for my girlfriend xD we're both 17 so it was slightly tongue in cheek, but she absolutely loved it. I appreciate that this product will mostly be bought for people a great deal younger, so I'll get to talking about the product itself :) It has the verse from the book where the gruffalo is described tagged into it's ear, and matches the description perfectly - right down to the wart on his nose =D It's very well made, really cuddly and would look great on any childs bed or windowsill etc. :) well recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably good!, 17 Sept. 2010
This review is from: United 93 [DVD] (DVD)
I watched this film last week on the 9/11 tribute night and this seemed like the best thing to watch. The director of the Bourne films and director of photography from The Hurt Locker seemed like a good combination, so i had high expectations.
I wasn't disappointed. Paul Greengrass is almost unparralleled at creating tension in films and he has a real talent for getting great performances out of actors. Although there weren't any famous hollywood A-Listers in it, the cast are all absolutely convincing and well played.
Barry Ackroyd also has a unique talent with a camera so that you feel like you're right there in the film; he is also very good at giving a factual feel to fictional material. Not quite as stunning as The Hurt Locker, but a close run thing
The ending is fitting and made my eyes prickle a bit, and the use of real-life footage from the event is well-executed.
Overall a fantastic film and a worthy memorial to those who were affected (directly or indirectly) to the events of 9/11/2001.

I bought this at the same time as my ipod, and i have to say that it really is a fantastic case! the leather is very soft, and it is a joy to hold and to use!
my main worry with such a case was that the ipod would keep on moving around inside and make it hard to use; such worries proved to be unfounded. the only real niggle is that if your headphone jack is at a 90 degree angle to the cable, it can be slightly annoying to put in, otherwise it is all fine! this is a case that i would thouroughly recommend!
