3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite right, 2 Jun. 2017

I have only managed to watch two of the 3 series to date. Unfortunately, the DVD's are not perfect to watch as the picture placement is a bit wrong and the top part of the picture is out of view on the 32" TV I usually watch my DVD's on and the top of the characters heads is off screen. It is better on a larger screen. Still watchable and I didn't bother to return these but they are far from perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Atmosphere, 16 Feb. 2010
This is not the best of the Joe Sandilands series, but it is a very good read
and, if you enjoy the series, then don't miss this one. Good French
atmosphere and characters. I did guess who had done the murders but that
didn't detract too much from enjoying the story. I think, overall, I enjoyed
the India series rather than those with the French settings, but that is
personal choice.

The Song is You
The Song is You
by Megan Abbott
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars A good, hard boiled read, 12 Jan. 2010
This review is from: The Song is You (Paperback)
I bought this having read a review of it in the newspaper. I was a bit
disappointed, however. The gritty, hard boiled dialogue was OK, but I
felt a bit lost sometimes and not sure what they were talking about. The
'twist' at the end was not unexpected and failed to thrill - I could tell
what was coming from about half way through.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read., 12 Jan. 2010
Very good story and an enjoyable read but this all takes place in a
Shaker show type village well distant from the usual Pecan Springs
scenario. Therefore, most of the usual characters are missing so it does
lack the mix that, I certainly, have come to enjoy. However, if you
take it as it is, something seperate, and different, you will still
enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, 18 July 2009
This is one of the best that I have read in this series. The Alberts
certainly do their homework, checking historical facts for all of this
series. Thoroughly recommend this one. I liked the way they created the
character of Edward VII, whilst making him likeable, his utter selfishness came through well. The lavishness of the Edwardian house
parties was well described, and the utter pointlessness of their existance.
Superb.
