4.0 out of 5 stars Very good hammer film, 11 Mar. 2012
I cant say i would put this in my top ten favorite hammer films but it is very good, well directed by roy ward baker who has also directed other great hammer films like the vampire lovers. While extending an underground railway line prehistoric skeletons are discovered and shortly after a strange vessel containing the bodies of creatures that came from another world. The film features a strong cast including the familiar hammer actress barbara shelley and to a lesser extent andrew keir who puts in an outstanding performance as professor quatermass studying the alien remains to learn of where they came from and what their discovery will mean for the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tales from the best, 10 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Amicus were the best when it came to horror anthology films, this one was produced in 1972 and in my opinion is one of their two best anthologies along with vault of horror. All the stories are very well written with a strong cast and lots of suspense, the transfer is excellent and overall very good value for money

4.0 out of 5 stars Not brilliant but very good, 8 Mar. 2012
This review is from: The Witches [DVD] [1966] (DVD)
A very good hammer film, no brilliant points but no dull points either with a decent story, good directing and the cast all perform well.No big hammer names like cushing or lee and no familiar faces like barbara shelley but still an enjoyable film. The transfer is not spectacular but thats what you might expect for a film made in the sixties, overall its definitely worth buying if your a hammer fan

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the original, 6 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Vengeance of She [DVD] (DVD)
The vengeance of she was made in 1967 and i think most would agree that the original was better, the story here is very much the same but the cast were much stronger in the original, ursula andress, peter cushing, christopher lee, none of them were cast in this film, a mistake in my opinion particularly in ursula's case but other than that the script just wasn't written as well and overall the original was much better but this is still a good film worth buying

5.0 out of 5 stars part two, 5 Mar. 2012
This review is from: She [DVD] [1965] (DVD)
Produced in 1965 this is an excellent hammer film featuring a strong cast and good directing from robert day.Peter cushing,
christopher lee and andre morell all do very well, although morell only appears briefly. The film is energetic from beginning to end with no dull points, not quite the best film to feature both cushing and lee but an excellent film none the less and a great addition to the collection of any hammer fan

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost the perfect set, 4 Mar. 2012
Almost the perfect set because these are the first two films of a hammer trilogy, the third(twins of evil)and possibly the best of the three is missing, however this is still a very nice set and twins of evil is also available on dvd.

VAMPIRE LOVERS: This film produced in 1970 is one of the better vampire films made by hammer, it was directed very well by roy ward baker who also did some work for amicus and it features a strong cast with peter cushing, ingrid pitt and kate o mara(horror of frankenstein). All of them perform very well and i will certainly watch this excellent film again

LUST FOR A VAMPIRE: This film was also produced in 1970 and directed by jimmy sangster. This in my opinion and i think most people would agree is the lesser of the two films perhaps due in some part to the weaker cast which does not feature peter cushing or ingrid pitt but they did cast ralph bates(horror of frankenstein and dr.jekyll and sister hyde).Again the directing is good and all the cast perform well but overall this just isn't quite as good as the vampire lovers but still well worth watching more than once

2.0 out of 5 stars The bitter end, 2 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Made 20 years after the first vampire film produced by hammer, zoltan hound of dracula was a real sign that hammers vampire series of films had run their course, i have watched many of the hammer film productions and i think i can safely say that this is one of the worst, i didn't recognize any of the cast, the acting was less than brilliant and the script was terrible. If you are looking for a quality hammer film then don't buy this one, its best suited to the completist

Edit: not a hammer film but still a poor dracula film

4.0 out of 5 stars The last half an hour is the highlight of this film, 2 Mar. 2012
Demons of the mind was a different film in comparison to what hammer usually produced and while it is not their best film it certainly isn't their worst. There are no really big names here but there are some familiar faces, patrick magee and shane briant, the acting is good but the first 60 minutes are less than brilliant however it does really liven up towards the end with the last third being far more energetic and enjoyable than the first two and overall this is certainly a worth while purchase for any hammer fan

2.0 out of 5 stars cheap rubbish, 1 Mar. 2012
These cheap adapters don't work with every device, i have two mp3 players, a sony and a cowon. The cowon can be charged with a cheap plug but the sony simply won't charge and when plugged into the usb socket on my laptop it charges perfectly.Further more the usb connector on the end of the cable does not go all the way into the usb socket in the plug.I have since acquired a different plug which looks and feels far superior, the usb connector does go all the way into this plug and it charges both my cowon and sony perfectly. This really is a case of you get what you pay for

4.0 out of 5 stars Hammer's version of zombie horror, 1 Mar. 2012
An usual hammer film as well as an usual zombie film, nothing like the zombie films produced today.Set in a small english country village the film is about a strange disease which has killed twelve people in as many months but the local doctor has no idea what it is and so he calls on his mentor, sir james forbes(andre morell)for help in stopping the plague that is slowly killing the villagers off.The transfer is excellent and overall this film is well worth buying if your a hammer fan
