Secrets and Lies [DVD]
Secrets and Lies [DVD]

Price: £15.02

2.0 out of 5 stars Well below the standard of other Australian Crime series., 26 July 2016

Compared to the well produced Dr Blake and Miss Fisher series I found this just about watchable but only because I had spent the money on its purchase. I would certainly put me off living in Australia.

A corkscrew that doesn't feel as if it is going to break when pulling out tight fitting corks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be warned this program is full of bugs. Obviously not properly beta tested before sale., 20 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Note this is a review by somebody who paid for the program and selected it specifically for the extra features of the premium version. This is not a review by somebody who was sent the program presumably free of charge and had no interest in the extra features. It would seem that Amazon UK decided to send out free copies of the premium edition for evaluation. These reviewers probably tried the simple things not the plug ins and all worked well. This is not a proper test and this program shows all the signs of not having been properly beta tested. If you go to Amazon.de for this product and look at the numerous one and two with Google Translate you will see that I am not alone in considering this program unfit for release. Or got the Amazon.com
My initial review complained about the poor information provided this company seems not to have thought through how to communicate with customers to give one example:
They state "Together with the MAGIX Product you will receive an individual serial number which you must enter during installation. A one-time registration as well as online activation are also required. Using the serial number, you can activate the MAGIX Product for the number of Computers specified in the serial number."
Well I received serial numbers, plural and nowhere on the card with the serial numbers or in any other piece of supplied documentation did it specify the number of computers.
They claim on their web site that the full version 4 of prodad is supplied and when you enquire about using the plug in they refer you to the stand alone version e manual. The stand alone version does not look anything like the plug in version. To be fair what you do get is good value considering the cost of the stand alone version and at least for me this plug in works.

But there is the problem it is hit and miss if this program and especially the plug ins will work on your specific computer. The MPEG 4 plug (you have to purchase this) in which seems to work in my lower spec computer cluttered with other programs yet on a two week old high spec computer on which I had installed one piece of software it is a disaster. Usually with these sort of problems a clean reinstall can solve these problems but the uninstall for this program leaves a massive amount of debris on the computer. Even with a manual clean including the registry I could not remove the program completly.
Customer support, you explain the problem with great clarity (I am used to producing material for scientific journals) and they say they don't understand. So you explain again and another day goes by and then they start ignoring you because they know there is a problem which they know they do not understand and can not solve.
Beta test and fix before offering for sale, this is what is done by companies like Adobe this means that the programs do not fail on a large proportion of computers

2.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful recordings not a self teaching course., 6 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is not a good book for teaching yourself. It is a book for a classroom group and many of the exercises expect participation of more than one person. I also found it was very fragmented and at times difficult to follow. My main criticism of this pack is the recordings they seem to follow a belief that a student should be subjected to interviewer and interviewee who do not speak well enunciated Spanish. Whilst this maybe great for natural linguists and advanced learners it renders the conversations incomprehensible to many. This is made worst by many of the recordings having an echo (to the level where a BBC interviewer would appologise for the bad line) and contorted dialog. I give one example from lesson seven a response when asked about her interests* . "Pues mira, mis intereses son, pues desde luego, mis intereses, desde luego, seria venirme a España" Well look, my interests are, well of course my interests, Of course I would go back to Spain.
Yes I am sure that some Spanish speakers ramble on like that but most of the ones I speak to do not. My weakness in Spanish is listening to dialogue and these recordings are of little use to me.

* (actually here I think the word is being used as inclinations but I did not find that in my two Spanish English dictionaries and they do not put it in the book's vocabulary although that meaning is given in the Academia dictionary)

4.0 out of 5 stars Most good but some anoying features., 6 Jun. 2015
The reviews of this item seem very unhelpful so far. I hope this short review helps a bit more.
Pros:
Size, just right fits in a top shirt pocket neatly.
Bluetooth, it connects easier than most.
Sound, Really quite good quality but as always a subjective opinion
Cons:
Like many portable MP3 players it turns on when you put it on charge. Why? How many people use it attached to cable?
The dreadful switch off procedure, it takes ages and if you become impatient you find you have a flat battery. You meet somebody you know you can't just ignore them but spending ages making sure this thing is turned of is nearly as bad.
And Europe protecting my ears again! Every time you switch on you have to give it permission to be loud enough to hear (audio books)

The menu system takes some getting used to but that is the same with all players.
The battery seems adequate.
The menu system

I lasted one episode and five minutes into the next. Then I asked my self, why am I watching this stereotyped drivel. To me it seems that it is trying to copy Danish political drama, not very well. Don't we have enough of political posers in real life without having them in fiction as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, 7 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I believe far to much is expected of Solar power devices. This one has exceeded my expectations and when you take into account the battery that is included it is of very good value and is well made. I am using it in Spain in the winter so in the UK it would probably give you about the same power from April to September. I estimate it would keep your phone charged and if the weather is good quite a bit more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and after inserting a new battery into the monitor works well., 14 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is nice to be able to write something positive about a recent electronic purchase. With a few glitches this has worked well and I have not found the strap to be as insecure as others report but I suppose it could come undone if you shook your arm hard enough but I think you would also damage your arm with such vigorous activity.
Two things I like: 1. it is comfortable and causes no discomfort to wear day and night
It has a time function so there is no need to wear another watch, something that is lacking in my Garmin Sport's Watch.

Two minor points against it:
1. There should be more explanation of the data display. For instance there is a number for elevation gain given which must be for other Garmin products as there is no GPS or altimeter in the Vivofit.
2. The Heart Monitor belt paired but then the heart rate remained static, this was cured by a change of battery but supplying it with a near exhausted battery is not acceptable not so much for the battery cost but for the time it wastes before you realise that that is the problem nothing more serious. Easily prevented by inserting a small piece of plastic between the battery and contacts with a tab for the consumer to remove it after purchase. Having said that the monitor belt, with new battery works better than my other Garmin Belt that came with a Sports Watch.
