Smashing Logo Design: The Art of Creating Visual Identities (Smashing Magazine Book Series)
Smashing Logo Design: The Art of Creating Visual Identities (Smashing Magazine Book Series)
by Gareth Hardy
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A smashing find for designers and creative professionals, 6 Aug. 2011
This book offers everything you need to gain an insight into logo design - from concept to finished product. As a marketing professional who wanted to know more about the creative / artwork side of this specialized profession, the book walked me through the whole creative process of designing a successful logo. It was also interesting to understand a designers point of view when dealing with clients as I am normally the client dealing with designers, so the advice will be helpful in my future projects. All in all, a great find for those looking to educate themselves in the world of logo design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Armstrong returns even stronger with Broken, 16 May 2006
After enjoying all of Kelly Armtrong's books, especially Bitten and Stolen I feel like I have been waiting for the third chapter in Elena's story for a life time.

Broken focuses on Elana Micheals the only known female werewolf in the supernatural world that coexists with the normal human world. Through the Women of the Otherworld series we have seen Elena refuse her werewolf status, accept it, reunite with mate Clay and be stolen and locked away in a laboratory and finally escape to live with the Pack (the werewolf clan).

This new adventure sees Elena help steal the infamous Jack the Rippr From Hell letter, and deal with her precnancy at the same time! As chaos ensues after the letter opens up a portal to Victorian England, Elena, Clay and the rest of te Pack race to close it and remedy the ailments it has caused.

This book shows that Kelly Armstrong is stronger than ever and is dveloping her characters to their fullest. Her writing is enigmatic which give the reader "I can;t put it down syndrome". The story is well paced and makes you keep reading right until the end. Twists and turns keep you interest as well as the further developing relationship of Elena and Clay which all Armstrong fans have been waiting for. Its great to see that the chemistry is still their and that they have become closer than ever.

For any fan this book is a must have and for anyone new to the otherworld series it is a great book to read.

A brilliant enstallment that will keep you hungry for more... Bring on more from this excellent author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ingen Ingenious......, 20 Jan. 2006
When Jurassic Park was released 13 years ago I thought "wow", dinosaurs have been brought to life before my very eyes. Action packed, with great, lasting special effects the original Jurassic Park , became an instant classic.
The rampaging and fearsome T-Rex ripping it's way through Ingen's theme park and the highly intelligent raptors hunting in packs made the first film an exciting watch. The seccond film had equally impressive special effects and exciting action as we were taken to "The Lost World", despite the dissapointing loss of Sam Neil as Dr Alan Grant the enthusiastic paleontologist.
The third film, again provides us with lots of action and gives us the interesting adition of pterodactyls to the dino cast and Dr Alan Grant returns as desperate parents trick him into returning to Isla Sorna to search for their son who is lost on the island.
All brilliant action/adventure films and now availible all together in a boxset. An excellent purchase which will provicde hours of watching pleasure for older children and adults alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disney Classic for all the Family, 20 Jan. 2006
This classic fairytail was imortalised beautifully by Disney years ago and is now availible on DVD. The animation is fabulous and the story is timeless, this combined with a splendid soundtrack including the favourites "A Dream is a Wish your Heart makes" and upbeat "Bibiti bobbity boo" make this a great classic for all the family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Film, 20 Jan. 2006
This review is from: Pretty In Pink [1986] [DVD] (DVD)
A classic 80s comming of age film starring Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy of the Brat Pack. A girl from the wrong side of the tracks (quite literally) is romanced by the rich boy from the right side of the tracks. Emotional turmoil ensues as peer pressure builds when he asks her to the prom. Always a good watch and definately worth the upgrade to DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original Teen Movie, 14 Nov. 2005
a brain, and An athlete, and a basketcase, and a princess and a criminal....
Five strangers with nothing in common, except eachother
I was born in the 80s and therefore love everything 80s. This film is THE definitive 80s teen movie. Comedy, tension, a little bit of romance and the truth about high school. Ask any teenager and I am sure they will tell you that they have been pigenholed into a sterotype. This film can speak to many teenagers, and adults alike and entertain us highly on the way!
I would reccoment this brilliant film to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating and Compelling, 26 Jan. 2005
This review is from: Where Rainbows End (Paperback)
After finishing Ahern's debut "PS: I love you" I was given "Where rainbows end" for Christmas 2004. I finished the entire book in ONE day, cover to cover. A captivating story of two childhood friends who struggle against all the odds to finally find the end of their rainbow. It was that compelling I couldn't put it down, I had to find out where Alex and Rosie would end up. Brilliantly written with a style which will completly emerse you in the novel.
In short I highly recommended this book to anyone.
