However, I was reinbursed for what I paid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compelling!, 23 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is a compelling insight into the make up, machinations and systematic dehumanisation process of the citizens of the German People's Republic by the state. It is being told through the personal frank experiences of the author's family - a journey of falling in and out of love with the state and communism.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little known fascinating chapter in the history of the Jews in Judea in the 1st cent. AD., 23 April 2014

This review is from: Masada [DVD] (DVD)
It is a somewhat dated series of a very little known amazing true event in the Jewish people's struggle for independence, freedom of worship and dignity.

The dialogue is uneven - slow and melodramatic in the Holiwood style at times; at others - compelling!

Peter O'Toole, Anthony Quayle and Peter Strauss' are compelling. David Warner is somewhat two dimensional as the villain.

It is high time to produce a new version of this fascinating chapter of history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and enriching read, 10 Oct. 2012

Donington's book is a detailed scene by scene analysis of Wagner's Ring Cycle with all its motives. It makes for a relatively easy and rewarding read. In order to enrich my experience of Wagner operas, I know I will keep referring back to it in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dramatic and interesting angle on the French Ressistance during WWII, 6 Jan. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A fascinating angle on WWII. Perhaps it is not surprising that wine became a battlefield over which the French chose to ressist the Nazi ocupation. Short, enjoyable and easy read.
