1.0 out of 5 stars buy Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition instead!, 3 Jan. 2014
This review is from: Gran Turismo 6 (PS3) (Video Game)
Well, i was disappointed with Gran Turismo 6, not only did Sony and Digital Polyphony rush this incomplete title out (80% complete game at best) to compete foolishly with a next-gen racing title on another system, they also seem to have actually made what is there worse than the previous installment. I have every GT game since GT1 including all the Concept and Prologue games and this is what this game should have been released as, Gran Turismo 6: Prologue with the full GT6 coming out on the Playstation 4.

there's no B-Spec, 3D mode or Endurance racing for a start > the two biggest issues most cited by fans, the sound and driver AI have not been fixed and it's just too easy to complete. you won't hear this from the GT fanboys giving this 4 or 5 stars though as they seem to be worshiping at the alter of Kaz and his surmons of 'jam tomorrow' with regards to all the missing features and fixing the problem this title has.

if you really do need a Gran Turismo title in your life then you should really buy a copy of Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition (PS3) for £20 as this is the best Gran Turismo currently available on the Playsation 3, but Sony are pulling a dirty there too and are going to turn the online servers off for that in March i believe to try and force people to buy the latest broken version.

If you're not that bothered about Online, and i'm not, GT5:AE is the way to go to avoid wasting your money, or better yet, wait a couple of years until they release the full version of GT6 along with all the patches, fixes and updates on a disc.

albeit a brief book, it does give a look into the world of the OTON Console and it's O/S. plus a nice bit of back history to the people behind it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Grip Don't Slip, 11 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
after looking at some other more feeble looking cases i opted for this one, it's a nice rugged silicon semi-shock case that fits a treat. i am a Trail rider and this case provides great grip for wet/dirty hands and gives confidence in it's use. The screen protector fitted a treat with no bubbles underneath.

2.0 out of 5 stars nice build quality, awful control, 29 Dec. 2011
i was rather looking forwards to this due to the customisation options and the overall look and feel of it, how i was sorely disappointed when i got the thing set up. i used it with Forza 4 and it is almost impossible to drive with due to the huge deadzone this wheel has. i loaded up the customiser software and adjusted sensitivity and removed deadzone but this had very little effect on how it felt.

for a wheel i don't expect to have to turn it up to 30'degrees in either direction before it responds, this makes so those small corrections in direction next to impossible, and is no use to an enthusiastic driver at all. my old logitech rally vibration wheel is more responsive than this.

i took a gamble on Datel now wish i hadn't. it's going back today!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great 3DTV For Gaming, 31 Mar. 2011
After much searching around and checking out forums for a quality 3DTV to go with my Playstation 3 i decided to go for this over others, my concerns were Plasma sets and screen burn as i planned to do a lot of gaming on it and didn't fancy having a HUD ghost when i switched back to watch normal TV, Plus the display is nice and bright. There was also the issue of ghosting during 3D playback and after a week of testing have found that films perform great and any ghosting in games is down to the software more than the TV itself.

I did find that setting the PS3s display option to an 84" screen produced much better 3D image and removed nearly all found ghosting, the worst was Ridge Racer 7 and after adjusting the PS3 and TV to get the best results all other games performed very well. The best effect is in the uber driving game Gran Turismo 5, where the only ghosting now is very slightly on some tracks white lines, apart from that it is spot on, i think i have parallax set to 7 and convergence to 4.2 or something close.

2D display, show this TV an HD input and it loves it, the picture is beautiful and clear, plus there are many options to adjust it just so, i found that tweaking the expert menus got me to where i needed to be. Initial set-up is easy as plugging an aerial lead in and hitting start, the set does the rest. The set also allows you to play .mpo 3d camera files and other 3d video off flash drives, not tried it on an external hard drive yet.

Now the bad points - at first i got 'sparkles' when using my PS3, but after buying a new 2160p HDMI 1.4 cable they vanished, the other more important issue is that this TV does not do 2D to 3D conversions, unlike Samsung and Sony models. This is not much of an issue as it's more a massive gaming monitor for me but if you want it for just films and tv this could be a factor with the lack of 3D viewing around at the moment, for that it drops one star.

overall very very impressed with the picture and performance. puts my old Samsung 1080p TV to shame. Also, no input lag that i noticed and it had a dedicated games mode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Wheel For The Money, 17 Nov. 2010
Now i guess alot of people who buy this wheel are like me, they like racing games but just can't justify forking 3 figures for a gaming controller, G25/G27 etc. I picked one of these up this weekend as i wanted a decent cheap wheel and going on Logitech's pedigree i figured this would do the job. the other plus point was not having any foot pedals, i have used the joypads triggers for throttle/brake for too long now and after trying some other wheels i can say you're better off without those nasty cheap plastic foot pedals. If you can race using a joypad you won't have any trouble using the progressive paddles on this wheel.

I believe this is the only wheel on the market that lets you use progressive paddles, i know other wheels have paddles but i have found they are nothing more than on/off buttons. May as well go back to using X and Square :) if you do know of another wheel that has this feature please comment below.

The Force Feedback on this wheel is good, it was a nice surprise to feel the wheel jink when another car nudged into my side, and it was dead easy to configure using the wheels menu in GT:Prologue. Logitech is the brand of wheel that GT supports fully. I have my wheel set to feedback 10, Professional handling and it gives proper 1:1 control over the car and wheel on the screen. In all this product comes into it's own when using in-car view allowing to to precisely place your car right on the apex of the turn.

For the money you won't find a better wheel on the market.

3.0 out of 5 stars 5hrs... that's your lot, 8 Sept. 2010
paid £40 for this which works out at £8 an hour of gameplay, to say i felt ripped off is an understatement. there's no plot really to speak off it's just a run from a to b each time shooting anything that moves down a linear tunnel before the next chapter starts. needless to say i traded it back the next day for store credit. it's games like this that make me not want to buy any ever again and just stick to renting them.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice looking but..., 1 Nov. 2009
the lack of rumble and having to use a wi-fi dongle? seriously guys, is this 1998 or something?

i admit the 'combat buttons' are a great feature and overall this pad is pretty special, the light-up control sticks are sweet as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars stop, hammer time!, 12 April 2009
if the demo is anything to go by this game is going to be amazing, the Geo-Mod 2.0 engine is unlike anything i've seen on a console yet. it has a control and cover system like Killzone 2 (but not as heavy feeling) in 3rd person, the gameplay is like the original Mercenaries (not the dodgy 2nd one), the vehicles have to be driven (through buildings!) and the walkers.. well, big jobs, big jobs! they even have the loader mech' from Aliens in there too... i can't see how this game could fail to impress. pre-ordered it today.

1.0 out of 5 stars what controls?, 12 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Resident Evil 5 (PS3) (Video Game)
i am soo glad i downloaded and played the demo for this game first. ok, the good points, it looks good. bad points, the camera, the wet cement controls, the suicidal AI co-op. best off just buying the RE: Degeneration DVD instead and spending the money you saved on a decent playable game. personally i feel the RE series lost the plot somewhere shortly after Code Veronica, this latest outing just proves my suspicions. as LAIR proved, great graphics do not a good game make.
