2.0 out of 5 stars Very subjective, 31 Jan. 2016
This review is from: Reagan: The Life (Hardcover)
Quie a subjective book - one big advertisement to get RR onto Mt. Rushmore. Many believe him to be the watershed for the great income inequality we now suffer. Can anyone suggest a more onjective study?

The CNN Effect: The Myth of News, Foreign Policy and Intervention
The CNN Effect: The Myth of News, Foreign Policy and Intervention
by Piers Robinson
Edition: Paperback
Price: £24.99

3.0 out of 5 stars CNN - more, 17 Oct. 2015
This book is good as far as it goes - but is now very outdated.

Is there any other book that goes into Cnn in later years where, while it is thought to be on the left side of matters,, it seems to be primarily financed through billionnaire-based 'favorite things' -- Rolex, Emirate Airlines, etc. Special features seem to be aimed at the rich or the rich on 'guilt trips.' Anything come along that tells more about what's behind the scenes?

War in a Time of Peace: Bush, Clinton and the Generals
War in a Time of Peace: Bush, Clinton and the Generals
by David Halberstam
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff - but was surprised by Halberstam referring to ..., 2 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good stuff - but was surprised by Halberstam referring to as having been previously 'sworn enemies' when he was writing about the break-up of Yugoslavia and the ensuing wars. Britain and France had not exchanged shots in the previous 150 or more years. (I don't believe DH was considering the Petain adventures with Hitler as having been representative of France as a nation - though there is some room for interpretation there).

DH also seems mistakenly mix the European Community with the Europian Union - with DH seeming to think the EU preceded the EC. A good editor should have caught this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty weak story line, 30 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Pretty weak story line. Sometimes devolves into some kind of Doris Day type film - check the background music on one of the drives along the ocean.

The picture quantity is quite horrible - one really misses out on Fleming and dahl

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 21 April 2014
I got this book thinking it would indeed tell about the actual interstates - instead it did hold exclusively to the subtitle. One learns every detail of people involved with the roads - eg that the NY engineer had a game room in his basement and what kind of awning was on his house. So much of it told things which had NOTHING to do with the Roads. For me - more than uninteresting - and indeed it was pretty much of a hodgepodge in any case.

There were a few pictures - many of them pictures of these people - there was one small map (Baltimore) - a few of cars and a couple of the construction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Copy?, 2 Feb. 2014
This review is from: Sorry (Toy)
The game is okay etc. But isn't it just a 'move by card' version of the traditional age-old dice game?

White Pearl Popcorn 2 kg (Pack of 3)
White Pearl Popcorn 2 kg (Pack of 3)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Deal, 27 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Definitely good popcorn. Gives a basically 100% 'pop' - pops up large and tender - arguably I have had a bit more tenderer popcorn but at many times the price - and one can buy expensive popcorn and NOT get anything special. In any case this product is tasty and certainly tender enough. Do try to use a neutral oil with ANY popcorn - grapeseed or rice bran for example. Canola, corn, peanut etc. can give some distracting taste - yes, even the corn oil :-).

1.0 out of 5 stars Total nonsense, 26 Nov. 2013
This book contains totally nonsensical ideas - if they even can be called ideas. Enough for a starter is why would Canada give up or compromise a working health system for the Neanderthal version that occurs in the US? The health care (?) industry in the US is 18 pc of the GDP so that is no minor matter.

Add in all the foreign policy, NSA etc. mess. All this at the same time that Scotland is presenting a good case for Devolution.

True enough that Toronto's Ford is a laughing stock. But Satah Palin was actually nominated by millions and millions to be a heartbeat from running the whole show!!

Save your money and get a copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales for a better look at reality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Natural?, 29 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Product description on Amazon says all matural flavors and colors - but ingredients on package only says 'natural colors' - and list has: flavorings, fruit and plant concentrates.

The word 'flavorings' could mean ANYTHING - and if really all natural flavors why doesn't Haribo say 'Natural Colors AND Flavors'?

++

Actual product OK re general taste - but rather 'weak' - what is it about food manufacturers that has them cut back on flavors? Maybe in this case we might be able to more easily detect some phony chemical substitutes. But it does seem to be a usual thing - I have never heard anyone complain about an orange candy having too strong an orange taste - or cherry - or whatever. Stupid of them!

4.0 out of 5 stars Spanglish, 21 Jun. 2013

Good film but really could have benefited from English subtitles so we'd figure out Paz' Spanglish a bit more easily.
