Required reading, 20 Sept. 2008
Doctor Oates has written an excellent book. It should be required reading for all living in Scotland, and possibly England as well.
In effect there were no less than four Jacobite Rebellions between 1708 and 1745 and those living at that time expected a later one, hence the government building a new Fort George. Cumberland however by his actions forestalled any further bloodshed and misery which these unnecessary, and mainly unwanted , rebellions created.
