This is the story of Cicely, the younger sister of Elizabeth of York, Henry Tudor's queen. But this Cicely is feisty and sexy, having already (in the first of the series) had an intimate and passionate relationship with Henry's rival, Richard III. Now Richard is dead and Cicely has a good reason to stay on Henry's good side. She finds that, though she hates him for being the cause of Richard's destruction she also experiences an irresistible fascination for and attraction to him him, which he returns...

Sex, Lies, and Handwriting: A Top Expert Reveals the Secrets Hidden in Your Handwriting

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and informative, 23 July 2015

Not only is this an informative book, but it is thoroughly entertaining. The author, an expert on handwriting analysis used for police investigations, shares her expertise and reveals all the little quirks of handwriting which give away someone's character. Each theme has examples and little exercises and tests for the reader to do and the descriptions of the 'quirks' are memorable as well. For example she describes a leading stroke, which is raised higher than the rounded part of the 'p' letter, as a 'pugilistic 'p' ' - this means the person is argumentative.

She goes on to analyse the handwriting of 'Jack the Ripper' and puts forward her own theory of his identity based on the handwriting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed, clear, unbiased and fair., 23 July 2015

I have read Matthew Lewis' novels, 'Loyalty' and 'Honour', which played a large part in introducing me to Richard III's life and times. He is pro-Richard, but not in a blind, blinkered way and he always gives alternative explanations for disputed events or those where there is little concrete evidence. His points are logical and fair, unlike many others on both sides of the arguments about Richard's reputation. If you want a clear, detailed, unbiased account of the background and events of the Wars of the Roses, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will stay with me for a long time, 23 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Haunting and beautiful story about an American teenage boy, going through the awkward phase of that time of life and finding an unlikely friend in a mysterious and ghostly man. I won't spoil it by revealing who it is, but it is a famous and controversial historical figure.
The descriptions of the feelings of Eddy, the boy are very convincing and authentic and the locations really come to life and make you want to visit them yourself. If you can get a copy do so, it is brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars The book I have been waiting for!, 23 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the book I have been waiting for! I desperately wanted to read an alternative history where Richard III won the battle of Bosworth. What would his reign have been like, what would have been Henry's fate, etc? Not only does this answer those questions with entertaining and credible scenarios, but it carries on using the characters form the author's previous (also brilliant) Laurence the Armourer novels, allowing them to also have an alternative history. If you like Richard III; the Laurence the Armourer books; alternative history; action-packed, well-informed stories; expert depictions of mediaeval armour and battles, you will love this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet!, 27 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very engaging portrayal of Richard of Gloucester, the future Richard III, and his brothers. It includes a story about Edmund, the often-forgotten York brother. If you are Ricardian and would like to read some well-written and charming stories, often from a more unusual angle, then this book is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bittersweet Romance, 13 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have recently read two very contrasting books both dealing with the same subject - the life of Anne Neville, Richard III's queen. In this one, Anne is portrayed as a scared, helpless, sickly child and isn't much better as she grows up, but she is sympathetic and the depiction of Richard III is sympathetic, always a bonus for me! Their love is shown as genuine and deep and they come across as real people with real problems and emotions.

Although very short, this was a useful look at the dreaded sweating sickness and gives accurate time-frames for when it appeared in England.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-American Medieval Hero, 13 Jun. 2015

This is a hilarious, outrageous, time travel yarn which is past paced and entertaining. Although the American 'accent' of the hero was annoying, I loved many parts of it, not least the depiction of Richard III quoting from Shakespeare. Light-hearted and fun.
