5.0 out of 5 stars A topical emotional page turner!, 21 May 2017
This review is from: Paris Mon Amour (Kindle Edition)
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, which turned out to be an emotional page turner and highly topical, as now Macron’s private life is much discussed! As a linguist I adored the clever use of cognates and idiomatic expressions to bring some French language into the book, whilst still enabling the English reader to understand and learn about cultural differences. I was sucked into the story and really felt for all the characters involved, as they were skilfully described. I admired how the author intelligently treated such a strong sexual taboo, challenging the generalisations and prejudices surrounding certain relationships

5.0 out of 5 stars An indispensable read for EVERY language teacher!, 1 Jun. 2016
The Language Teacher Toolkit is a treasure chest for every language teacher, whether new to the profession or not. The comprehensive 350-page volume is divided in 25 well-structured chapters where invaluable tips ans tricks are backed up by the latest research on all subjects and the extensive teaching experience of both authors Steve Smith and Dr. Gianfranco Conti. This self-published book is a must not only for trainee language teacher students but also a fantastic reference for inspiration, practical applications and implications in the classroom, exploring all types of learners and situations in an encouraging and clearly expressed language. Every teaching question and context seems to be covered with such depth of thought, detail, logic, attention to detail, empathy and clarity that I will dwell in this book's wisdom for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful inspiring resource!, 1 Jun. 2016
Whether you are naturally a playful teacher or not, this extensive collection of games will help you bring more fun into the classroom by giving you clear easy to follow instructions with a minimum of preparation. All pupils love playing and with the authors' experience and advice, you can insure that purposeful learning happens alongside these activities. The book is well organised and a helpful space is left at the end of each game for you to write your own notes about the outcome of the activity for future reference. You will never need another book about language games for any age group ever again as I have already used some of them with adult learners too.

French Verbs and Tenses (Easy Language Books)
French Verbs and Tenses (Easy Language Books)
by Rosi McNab
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.95

5.0 out of 5 stars An indispensable guide to French verbs!, 11 April 2016
This useful book does more than what the title suggests. Not only does it explain French verbs and its tenses in a very clear and accessible way, but it also refers to the English verbs and tenses, so that the learner at every stage can relate to the familiar structures of English to deepen his/her understanding. As the art of translation is a skill required by the new curriculum this approach helps to acquire it. Some focused and short exercises give an opportunity to put the concepts straight into practice in a genuine context with useful everyday sentences.
Verbs are always the trickiest part for French learners to tame and master. There is a strong need for such a helpful guide, both for teachers of French (like myself) to recommend to their students and for independent learners from beginner level or for revision purposes. High frequency verbs are given special attention as well as a very thorough list of synonyms to enrich one’s writing.
Every higher GCSE student should have one on their shelves and it is a perfect revision guide to breach the gap and level out the students between GCSEs and A-levels at the beginning of the first term!

5.0 out of 5 stars with wonderful French children talking and singing appeals to the learners ..., 11 April 2016
This colourful and funkily illustrated book presents the French language to young learner, both in an interactive and structured way that meets the needs of all learning styles.
The CD, with wonderful French children talking and singing appeals to the learners straight away and engages their curiosity to explore the book and to discover exciting stickers and creative activities. At every stage, the learner is invited to be a language detective, to discover how the French language is built and grammatical references are made in a simple and effective way in context with simple and clear explanations and playful exercises. I love its communicative approach, underlined by whole sentence analytical exploration and practice.
As a French teacher I will use this book in after-school clubs and during my primary school lessons as well as recommend it to parents as a holiday activity to sing along in the car with the whole family! I am certain that after finishing the first one, your children will beg you to get Book 2, by the same bestselling author Rosi McNab.

I have enjoyed this book so much! It's a perfect read for any book lovers and bookshop visitors! It made me feel like travelling the world to see all of the amazing places mentioned with heart-warming anecdotes and plenty of humour! I will get copies for my friends for Christmas, as it is the kind of book I loved receiving myself! Jen Campbell's other books "Weird things customers say in bookshops" and "More weird things customers say in bookshops" are great stocking fillers and presents too!

5.0 out of 5 stars My teenage daughter LOVED this book and devoured it, 2 Dec. 2014
This review is from: Red Leaves (Kindle Edition)
My teenage daughter LOVED this book and devoured it! I picked it up and was charmed by the humanity, tenderness and variety of themes it explored with great delicacy and respect. The story contains profound and thought provoking messages and I loved reading it in the autumn. The red leaves that cover the woods will always remind me of this moving tale and the spirits of its characters shall remain with me for a long time to come and will accompany me on my walks. I can't wait to snatch my daughter's other books by Sita Brahmachari...

I have adored reading this book and could not put it down! The psychological thriller is a genre I am not accustomed to, but Louise Millar has more than captured my attention with this extraordinary story! In the last few chapters, I could literally feel my heart pound with excitement and suspense! I can't wait to read her other books and hope she will have another one out soon!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 clear strategies that work to teach and train your child to have good habits for life!, 7 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found this book (and it's French translation) extremely useful. The 5 strategies are clear, no messing around guidelines to empower the parent(s) to bring rules into their family life that enables children to be more cooperative, self-reliant, respectful and motivated. It's full of examples that put the strategies into a context and the repetition helps you get familiar with them. They are not instinctive and probably you are going to find them difficult to apply, as the parent has to reprogramme his responses and behaviours towards the child. But I promise, it works, have a go, it's worth it!

I would also highly recommend the CDs for the more auditory parents and to use on car journeys to reinforce the concepts. Best of all is to attend a course with the author, Noel, who is very inspirational, caring and walks her talk all the way!Get two copies, one for each parent and some for the grand-parents too!
