5.0 out of 5 stars Glorious, absolutely glorious!!, 14 Mar. 2015

This absolutely fantastic recording shows that Blu-ray audio is the way forward for hi definition recordings. The 5.1 mix through my home cinema system is nearer to actually being there than anything I've heard before. The clarity of every instrument and the soaring dynamics are a positive joy, if you have a system capable of playing this in 5.1 you owe it to yourself to buy this recording and sit back and enjoy the quality of this recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a 5.1 system, you must buy this!, 4 Jan. 2015

This Blu-ray audio is simply fantastic, it brings an already great album to new heights. Hopefully this is a format that will be widely adopted and catch on where SACD did not, if you have suitable equipment for playing in 5.1 surround do not hesitate, this is a 'must buy'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something's missing, (and seemingly it's on a cutting room floor somewhere!), 4 Jan. 2015
I was fortunate enough to be at this concert and, at the time, considered it to be an excellent performance, far better than the previous visit to Bristol with Benoit David doing the vocals. But this video, (I have the Blu-ray, and why oh why did I have to get it from America via Amazon.com and not Amazon.uk? cannot understand the logic of it not being available from .uk when the blu-ray is not region encoded), feels as though something is missing, and there is: the whole of "Close to the Edge" and the 'encore, performance of "Roundabout". In addition, why is this concert in stereo and not 5.1 surround like previous Yes DVDs and Blu-rays? A concert is a complete item, chopping it about takes away the build up of atmosphere and then not including the finale of the encore leaves you flat. It's a shame because the concert actually progressed beautifully reaching a fantastic conclusion, but sadly that has been left on a cutting room floor somewhere. Others here have indicated that there is to be a future release of one of the USA gigs that will include the missing album, well I'm sorry but if that is the case the band is into extreme profiteering mode and building up the pension pot, and I will not be paying into it. If I could of, I'd have given 3.5 stars, four seems generous, but three a bit mean, because it was a great evening, (mind you although Davidson does well on vocals, he's no Jon Anderson some of the charisma is missing, and as for Geoff Downes, let's just say he his attempts at playing the sublime Rick Wakeman keyboard elements of the two albums were poor), but to get the true impact and feeling it needed to be released in full. As a result, all I have is a partial reminder of a great concert and not a true record.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cleaned up nicely, 30 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: White Rock (Audio CD)
This review is in respect of the May 2014 CD re-issue. Having possessed the original vinyl album, (on first release), and a previous cd release, (imported due to non availability in the UK), I can safely say that this version brings a new clarity and definition to the music. Unfortunately this album has always had problems in all it's incarnations. The original vinyl release was at that dreadful time in the 70's when the quality of the vinyl was simply appalling, more cracks, pops and scratches than you could shake a stick at. After a few plays, even on a quality deck, the album became almost impossible to play with any enjoyment. The new release is crystal clear, but this has rendered it a little 'bright', it's not lacking in bass but the top notes dominate a little due to this new openness and transparency, the previous issues tended to sound a bit muddy. Overall I'm pleased, it must be remembered that this album is a soundtrack specifically done for the official film of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics and without the visual images you are always left with the feeling that something is missing, hence I can only rate it at 4 stars. If it could have been issued as a box set with a DVD of the film, then that 5th star might have been possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the "sensationalist" 1 star reviews - This is very good, 3 Feb. 2014
This review is from: The Tunnel [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
First off let me be clear, overall the Bridge, (the Nordic series upon which this is based), was the better series, but those giving it 1 star reviews and saying it is a direct "word for word" copy have obviously not watched the whole series because, as several reviewers that have given higher ratings have pointed out, there are significant differences. This series was well written with a very good cast giving excellent performances. I enjoyed watching The Bridge and found this almost equally gripping, to give it just one star because it is based on another programme is to ignore the true worth and quality of the series, don't be put off, The Tunnel is well worth watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 30 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Story Of I (Audio CD)
I first bought this album when it was originally released on vinyl, as I recall the advertising posters at the time had the quote "makes Hannibal's crossing of the Alps look like a day trip to Brighton", and that pretty much says it all. Multilayered, complex and very different, on first listening it was a complete shock to the system, but give it time and ensure you read the story that it is trying to tell, (originally on the inner sleeve, missing from early cd releases, and now, thankfully, included in the more recent cd release), and you can picture everything in your mind. Unfortunately Moraz pretty much "peaked" with this incredible album but, in truth, it's so good he would of struggled to match it, let alone better it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd stuck with Philishave!, 30 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was attracted to this shaver because of the styling, reviews and seemingly good value for money, it was purchased to replace a Philishave that decided that 2014 was not a year it wanted to work in, and so failed to work on New Years Day. It's proved to be an error of judgement, it does not shave anywhere near as close as the Philishave did, it's not as simple to "wash out" as you have to remove the cutters, whereas the cutters on the Philishave just flipped up and it you want to charge it away from home you have to take the charging stand with you, whereas with the Philishave you could remove the lead from the charging stand and plug it directly into the razor and so leave the stand behind. I'm sure that some people are getting a good shave from this razor, and would say they don't from a Philishave. It's the same with Braun, some people love them but I cannot get on with them, (another expensive mistake!). I can put up with this one for the time being but, once funds allow, I'll be going back to a Philishave.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great Blu-ray transfer of a brilliant film, 2 Feb. 2013

Yes the film is a little dated and the special effects a bit weak, but this is a great, well acted movie, and even though it's in black and white the Blu-ray is well worth the investment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it - but where is series 2?, 2 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I loved these programmes when they were first aired, video quality is the reason for only 4 stars, but given it's age it's more than acceptable. But as only two series were ever made it seems odd that series two has not been released as well, hope this oversight is rectified soon!
