24: Season Two DVD Collection [DVD]
24: Season Two DVD Collection [DVD]
Dvd ~ Kiefer Sutherland
Offered by Shop4World
Price: £10.28

5.0 out of 5 stars Things get serious as Jack returns for another series, 27 Jan. 2013
24 is a fantastic series, from the first moment you see Kiefer Sutherland as tough, uncompromising Jack Bauer to the last microsecond. 24's main feature is the 'real-time' action, so that when you watch an episode you get an adrenaline-rush which has minimalism on flashbacks and other standard plot devices.

Throughout the series you'll get to meet a variety of characters, both good and bad. Usually there's some kind of terrorist plot going on and it's up to the Counter Terrorism Unit (or CTU) to take the stage and save the day. The cast at this point now includes Jack Bauer, president David Palmer, CTU commander Tony Almeida and Kim Bauer (Jack's daughter). You also have Kate Warner, a typical US lady who's sister is marrying someone that Kate doesn't trust. She plays a key part in this series events.

The second series mainly concerns a nuclear device which is active and is in danger of going off in central Los Angeles. It's up to the CTU task force to deactivate the nuke and save the day. The politics really comes into play here, especially in the third act.

This show is unpredictable, intense, moving and incredibly action packed. It only gets better in the later series too. A must see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing in every way. Top quality US action from start to finish, 27 Jan. 2013

The first season is mainly about a threat on the presidential candidate David Palmer. Dennis Haysbert does a fantastic job at playing a Black senator and it is definitely one of the best performances of a fictional political figure I have seen in a long time. The first season has many plot twists, the plot centers equally on Jack Bauer, Kim Bauer (his daughter), David Palmer and the CTU workers. You have Tony Almeida and Nina Myers who are trying to stop the bad guys.

This show is unpredictable, intense, moving and incredibly action packed. It only gets better in the later series too. A must see.

Linkin Park Live In Texas (Uk-Cd W/ Dvd)
Linkin Park Live In Texas (Uk-Cd W/ Dvd)

5.0 out of 5 stars Jaw-droppingly good. A fantastic nostalgia trip for any LP fan, 27 Jan. 2013
I've enjoyed all of Linkin Park's albums, but only recently became more interested in their live recordings. I never really heard much about Live in Texas but I was always curious to see what a Linkin Park gig is like. I don't know much about mosh pits or anything like that so it was interesting to see from that perspective.

They play a variety of songs from the first two main albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. They also play a few songs from Reanimation which is nice. The LP band all get their groove on and Chester Bennington sings his lungs out as usual. Mike is great at rapping and Mr Hahn does some amazing record scratching.

This pack comes with a CD and a DVD of the tour which is nice, so you can watch the DVD at home and listen to the CD in the car. This is definitely a masterpiece in itself and is really cheap. It certainly recreates the concert atmosphere and I was cheering and whooping with the audience. Top buy for any metal/rock fan!

Guitar Hero 6: Warriors of Rock - Game Only (Wii)
Guitar Hero 6: Warriors of Rock - Game Only (Wii)

5.0 out of 5 stars Guitar Hero is fun, full of great rock songs and good value for money!, 9 Jan. 2013
Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock is the sixth game in the Guitar Hero franchise. You play by strumming a guitar controller along to a variety of coloured frets that appear on the screen scrolling downwards. You can also plug in a drumset or microphone for an authentic band experience. While it is similar to Guitar Hero 5, it does have a lot of new features. In the main storymode, each playable character has their own bonus. These offer some clever strategies depending on the song and your playstyle. You can also do Quickplay which is when you choose exactly what songs you want to play. There's also a custom rocker creation tool, online play and a variety of other features including Downloadable Content.

While the Guitar Hero Franchise is over for the time being, this is still a fantastic game, and well worth picking up if you're a fan of the previous games. They really put some effort into this one which is great.

Not quite as good as the Batman or Marvel films but still a very good movie. Leave your thinking brain at the door and let your mind get absorbed by the great visuals!

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn [DVD]
Dvd ~ Daniel Craig
Price: £3.00

5.0 out of 5 stars A heartpounding rip-roaring adventure of epicness!, 6 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This movie is amazing. The CGI is groundbreaking, the story is fantastic... it's basically the best possible rendition of the Tintin story. Some things change from the comic strip but overall the characters are great. The character profiles resembles the comic strip, especially characters like First Mate Alan and Snowy. You should see this film, no matter what age you are. Priceless bliss throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing game, best of the franchise, 6 Jan. 2013
This game is great. There are lots of characters, custom characters you can make yourself, revolutionary scenarios which seem more like a turn-based strategy game and lots of control of your empire. There are a few minor drawbacks: If you're on a large map and don't have a horse, it takes a long time to travel around. Some missions or maps can be extremely hard if you're not prepared enough. Some scenarios are brutal and have you fighting against 3-5 armies at once. At these points you will have no choice but to surrender. Apart from that, this is an amazing hack n slash game and should not be missed at any price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic game (but hard in parts), 6 Jan. 2013
This game is a visual tour de force, it's amazing, it's heartpounding, it's intense... This is basically the highlight of the Devil May Cry franchise. If you like great hack n slash games this will be right up your alley.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a great film, 6 Jan. 2013
This review is from: Evan Almighty [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
While the special effects are good at times, and the film has a bigger budget, it just goes to show that more money doesn't equal a better film. The film title is a pun of "Heaven Almighty" and is obviously meant to establish a 'franchise' between this and Bruce Almighty. Be aware that this film wasn't even originally planned to have any connection to the previous film.

Morgan Freeman is the highlight of this film, but he is so underused. I would recommend you watch Batman or Shawshank Redemption instead for more of him. Steve Carell is quite a funny guy and he is in a lot of good films... but this is not one of them.

The jokes are simple and visual, the rest are just puns and references to the bible. I couldn't think of any reason to recommend this to someone else. Just look for a better film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic action experience with tense battles against monsters, 8 Dec. 2012
Gods Eater Burst on the Sony PSP is the localised version of the Japanese game God Eater Burst. This is actually the second in the God Eater series, the first being titled simply God Eater and only released in Japan and Korea. It's set in a science fiction future where monsters and chimeras rule the planet, and it's up to the last remnants of society to get rid of these abominations.

For those of you who enjoyed the Monster Hunter series, this game promises a similar type of gameplay. In GEB, you start out as a new recruit for the Fenfir corporation. You can set your gender to be male or female, customise hair, skintone and choose a voice out of a set of about a dozen. There are a variety of weapons, such as swords of various shapes and sizes, along with a variety of melee weapons. Each character's weapon also has an 'alternative mode' which is a gun mode, where you can release the energy collected by attacking the enemy.

One interesting quirk is that you can charge your sword in a 'monster mode' that will allow it to bite the enemy, allowing your attack to be boosted for a limited time. You can also gain enemy attacks as limited shots in the same way. You can also heal team-mates and transfer your burst power over to them.

Speaking of team-mates, you start with three and gain more as the story possesses. Unlike Monster Hunter, you can have several AI squadmates. Not only are they pretty clever, but they will try to heal and revive you whenever possible. You can even command them by using Select, telling them to "Converge", "Disperse" or "Gather".

You can use a variety of items, from health potions to muscle boosters. You can also use taunting scents and disguises to attract and distract enemy attention. Typically in a map you'll encounter a few different foes at once. It's your job to try and take them down one by one. In some missions this will be very hard. You'll have to micromanage your team and keep everyone alive as long as possible. A good tactic is taking down the weakest ones first, leaving the main enemy unsupported.

As you progress through the game, you can unlock new weapons to buy, craft ones yourself from monster loot, upgrade weapons, buy clothes and more. Some weapons and items have unique boosts, such as increasing your melee damage during Burst mode, or revealing the enemy's healthbar. In my personal opinion, your first priority should be getting an item that reveals the enemy's health, as this makes it a lot easier to prioritise and know how close you are to killing an enemy. Rather than having absolutely no idea how much more damage you need to deal out to the enemy (something I personally didn't like much about Monster Hunter).

I absolutely love this game, if you're after something a bit like Monster Hunter, then this is a great way of trying something new.
