5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the Slightly series to date, 12 Jan. 2004
This a wonderful book, featuring Lady Morgan Bedwyn. She is singled out by Lord Rosthorn in Brussels because he wants revenge on her brother, the Duke of Bewcastle, then they are caught up in the aftermath of Waterloo together (beautifully described). Alleyne Bedwyn is missing presumed dead (although we are given a hint as to what happens to him, so we know he will come back for the next 'Slightly' book due out soon, but back in England we get to see the Bedwyns trying to come to terms with his death as well as catching a glimpse into Bewcastle's past and the antipathy between him and Rosthorn. Of course it all unravels towards a happy ending, but there are some interesting twists.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful spin-off from the Company of Rogues series, 15 May 2002
This review is from: Hazard (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a wonderful book, involving Lady Anne Peckworth (first met in 'Forbidden') and Race de Vere, Con Somerford's secretary in 'Dragon's Bride'. Lady Anne has twice been passed over by Rogues who fell in love elsewhere, and Race goes to check on her on behalf of the Company of Rogues. Both hero and heroine have their flaws but act as perfect foils for each other. One of Beverley's best

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing compared to the other Bar Cynster novels, 15 May 2002
It's essential to read 'On a Wild Night' (Amanda's story) before reading this one(her twin Amelia's story)as the hero Luc Ashford first appears there, and that's the best introduction to his character you get. Although this is still a good read I felt it was the worst of the Bar Cynster group of books so far. The sex scenes seem to be the dominant part of the book, without the usual repartee and battle of wits. Somehow I felt that it was the usual 'get him to say "I love you" on the last page formula without the same originality of plot that makes me award the other books five stars.
