5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny. Murphy outdoes his EllesmerePort Pioneer columns., 14 Aug. 2016

I know these monologues and songs from live readings over the years.
My father in law nearly died laughing at an early draft of "The Todmorden Triangle." In fact don't remember him ever laughing apart from that night.
Surreal fantasy ,folklore, whimsical ,bawdy, cartoonish humour uncanny observations of a unique part of England long ago an industrial power house now a quirky counter cultural outpost, proud LGBG community and I spite of recent flooding a happy hippy valley.

Not my usual genre but found the story intriguing. The sense of the period of history and the places - Shropshire and The Lleyn Penninsular both places I know really well made it very real and believable.

this has been on my to read list for ages but kept putting it off mainly because of it being a kids book. Anyway finally got round to reading it. the story pulled me in. The characters were easy to identify with and feel empathy for. It was also informative although imagine much of the techy stuff has moved on a lot since it was written.
A great book would recommend it to any age group and imagine it would make a dam good film.

Murphy gets right inside the heads of her characters and portrays a dark side of West Yorkshire in filmic quality. Not my usual genre of book but I found the story gripping. This is really worth a look at.

I really liked the mix of fiction and non fiction. The short stories gave a depth and insight into the facts about Malls. it was also pleasurable to read in short chunks. An excellent, thought provoking read.
