I got this 2 days ago. I'm a complete novice & have only used the blender, but it does exactly what I want it to do so far. It takes up almost no room & looks good too. Only down side is that it is noisy, but I expected that.

The Nature of the Beast
The Nature of the Beast
by Janni Howker
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as it seems, 1 Nov. 2009
This book was given to me when I was in Primary school (23 years ago!) It centres around a young boy who lives in a small town blighted by unemployment. His outlook on life is bleak and his future uncertain. There have been sightings of an animal on the moors around his home. Is it a Wild Dog? Is it a Big Cat? Does it exist at all? His obssession with this animal allows him to escape from his mundane life.

Is the Beast of the title the animal roaming the moors, his inner turmoil, the town, his family or the future? You decide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever wondered what the Egyptians did with Goldfish?, 5 Oct. 2009
Wonder no more! This is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. I wont even try to go into detail about what this is about because it's simply not possible. Sit back relax and dont forget your stout stick!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving It!, 22 July 2009
I'm not that far into this book but I'm loving every entry. It has made me giggle several times already. It's good to know that he shares in my political leanings too!

P.S. Now almost finished and still loving it! I have to warn you though there will be tissues needed. Mainly for laughter but there are some tears on the way too (entries headed "Southwold" will really tug at the heart strings!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for everyone (providing they like stories about the undead!), 20 May 2009
This review is from: The Living Dead (Paperback)
Unlike the previous reviewer I understood all the stories in this book. I didnt like all of them but nobody likes everything. Less than Zombie is actually about a group of "friends" who attend an evening of "zombie porn" at a cinema and then go and act out their fantasies on one of their own. This is a good book to pick up & put down when you just want to lose yourself in a short story but not commit to reading a full book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow to start with, 28 Jan. 2009
This review is from: Crawlers (Paperback)
As stated above this is a book which is slowly paced to begin with. However, although it is never going to be a classic it is an intriguing read. You know what will happen but end up being interested in HOW it will take place. Some of the dialogue is a bit dodgy. Maybe that is because I'm 33 & British rather than an American teenager! A good way of passing the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still makes me cry, 29 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Jack And Sarah (1995) [DVD] (DVD)
I do not aggree that Hugh Grant would have been any better. However, I do think that Richard E Grant could have loosened up a wee bit and the scene at the pre natal appiontment would have been better if it had been left on the cutting room floor! I do wonder, though, how Cary Grant would have done it.

All I can say about this is that it should be on the reading list for every English class! Have the tissues ready.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Brilliance, 8 Nov. 2008
I first read this series in 1986. I loved it but gave it away to a friend! Last year I bought the series again & was captivated. Especially as I realised that some of it was set in Tywyn where my partner is from! It's very spooky when you realise that all of the places in Wales are real! The American film of "The Dark is Rising" does not even compare to the stunning intricacies of the writing. These books had me on the edge of my seat both as a child and an adult. Amazing!
