Not wonderful but nevertheless, entertaining.

As a tribute this is certainly one of the better ones. All the cast made a reasonable stab at their originators, except for one exception, that of Michael Gambon, whose impeccable study of Arnold Ridley's Private Godfrey was worthy of a best supporting actor award.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Beauty, 9 Jun. 2016

Gustav Klimt's paintings are stunningly glorious. Often complex in their textural detail, by way of their intrinsic patterns, they are painted in such glowing colours to the extent that they have a hypnotic effect that draws you into his work. Yet, there are also portraits of such exquisite detail as to possess photographic intimacy, where he captures the beauty of his men, women and children with their fine features.

If you love beauty for beauties sake, you will adore this tribute to a very, very sensitive artist.

I have read many stories of the supernatural but, this is one of the very best. Cottam does not need blood and gore to get the atmosphere across

A major influence on my early choice of reading material was one of Grey's "red" Indians rising from the grasses

A virtual art gallery.

Visiting art galleries, especially when exhibitions highlighting various genres or specific artists can be wonderfully memorable and, no other way of viewing the arts can be comparable, surely ? ... yet ...

The physical reality of a visit to an art gallery can consist of corridor after corridor after corridor of walking, except when you encounter a highlight that is surrounded by a formidable barricade of observers. NOT SO, with this stunning book.

So many people dismiss e-books as inferior to the physical equivalent. However, on a high quality tablet, such as a Kindle Fire, what are often minute details of an altogether glorious image, are gloriously presented in digital attitude. And, if you require a microscopic examine, press the magnification control, and an orange virtually explodes in your face or the smallest depiction on the picture in front of you, can be something that fills the entire screen or half or a third or a quarter of the screen.

So many of this type of book contain lists and accompanying snippets of intriguing facts. This is not really one of those, excepting in it's title. Phil Norman is someone who lives and breathes television ! This is surely, the definitive history of T V programmes.

The band that introduced folk to funk, in a fabulous compilation, in fact, this and Parcel of Rogues introduced me to Steeleye Span's glitteringly magnificent sound.

How much inspiration can a century provide ? Michael Schmidt is, as always, in tune with the kaleidoscope of something tumultuous. In reply to andsonsandsons, l would politely point out that,to introduce each poet would make this an even more epic book than it is, with a price tag to match.

And, in the age of the internet and Google, all information can be readily be to hand. And, what about the reference libraries ?

Studying, has come a long way since l was an English undergraduate with a limited budget that was incapable of buying new copies of the textbooks required.
