4.0 out of 5 stars Sultry Lola!!!, 8 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sultry siren of the 40's (Excellent cover art on this DVD)Lola Montez in this escapist costume adventure with
her soon to be husband Jean-Peirre Aumont with Dennis O'keefe and support from the fine
Henry Danielle.
For collectors I recommend another Lola Montez DVD costumer, (in technicolor) Arthur Lubin's
1943 Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves with Jon Hall and Turhan Bey. This also has a fine
support cast including Andy Devine.
If you loved these movies sitting in the Saturday matinee's you can relive these moments at home any time thanks to DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shortened Victors, 27 Feb. 2012

Although Carl Foremans one and only effort as director this short version 150 minutes (Original version 170 minutes)
still is one of the best war movies.
Columbia originally released in 1963 and the 170 minute original is virtually unobtainable on DVD.
Haunting winter scene of a deserter being executed accompanied by the wonderful Frank Sinatra version
of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is unforgetable.
Excellent cast somewhat diminished by another wooden performance of Vince (Ben Casey) Edwards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get Happy with the Hugget's!, 27 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Hugget's movies usually appeared as supports second feature in Australia in the early 1950's.
Most occassions the Hugget's movie was better than the main attraction!
I remember fondly these movies as a kid with my parents at the "Pictures" and am very grateful
to have and own these "gems' in my collection.
These 4 films are very entertaining and we can all "time travel" to a much simpler time and era
and enjoy along with the Hugget's.

4.0 out of 5 stars Welcome back to 1963!!, 27 Jan. 2012

This movies adaption of the popular 60's comic book ticks nearly all the boxes of fan's of the comic and books series (over 90 published)
Terence Stamp is great as Willie Garvin and Dirk Bogarde equally good as the villian Gabriel.
Excellent British support cast with Harry Andrew's and Michael Craig and Clive Revill as McWhirter the "accountant"
Color, fashion and verve of the 60's is well captured.
If you want a "taste" of the 60's this movie deliver's that experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Speedway is the Star!!!, 3 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was extremely pleased to be able to buy this DVD. As a fan of Speedway I had been after it for a long time!
There are virtually no other movies I am aware of that feature Speedway as a basis for the story.
Speedway originated in my home country of Australia and featured bikes built from various other parts of British marques like BSA.Triumph,Matchless,Norton etc.
This is a thrilling movie about a thrilling sport still very popular in Europe and Australia.
If you are not familar with Speedway racing but love motorcycles this movie is the perfect introduction to the sport of Speedway racing.
Great cast of British stars, Dirk Bogarde and excellent support character players. But for me Speedway is the star!!
