2.0 out of 5 stars Too many factual distortions, 20 Mar. 2014
This review is from: Cambridge Spies (DVD)
Based on a true story, nothing has been changed but the facts in particular in relation to Angleton. He is depicted as suspicious of the Cambridge spies but in reality he was completely taken in by Philby's charm.

The Devotion Of Suspect X
The Devotion Of Suspect X
by Keigo Higashino
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.83

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 19 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I cannot recommend this book too highly. The original crime is commonplace but the cover up is ingenious and the ending tragic. I also recommend Salvation of a Saint by the same author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Even in the ninetieth century it seems that some policemen fought against the system, 19 Sept. 2013

This review is from: The Edinburgh Dead (Paperback)
An interesting book mainly for its evocation of nineteenth century Edinburgh. The story is somewhat bizarre and unconvincing but it does grip.

The Greatest Traitor: The Secret Lives of Agent George Blake
The Greatest Traitor: The Secret Lives of Agent George Blake
by Roger Hermiston
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars An astute insight in to the character and motivation of George Blake, 19 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A detailed and I believe accurate account of a complex outsider who was labelled the most dangerous traitor of the 20th century.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of John Buchan, 19 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These stories definitely have a flavour of John Buchan about them and unfortunately the same casual racism, mainly anti semitism. I think that it would be a mistake to edit this out because it is typical of the time in which the stories are set and were written.

Lord Peter (Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries)
Lord Peter (Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries)
by Dorothy L Sayers
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.94

4.0 out of 5 stars Trip down memory lane, 19 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I first read these stories about 30 years ago and on reading them again I was not disappointed. The whole set up is somewhat eccentric but the puzzles are interesting and the writing literate.
