5.0 out of 5 stars bleak and beautiful. Steve Murphy once again manges to brilliantly capture ..., 30 Dec. 2015
Vast, bleak and beautiful. Steve Murphy once again manges to brilliantly capture the sense of melencholy and anxiety that surrounds us all as we had towards our own destruction. A culture of greed and want, over spiritual connection and enviromental responsibility leads the planet into the hands of the four horsemen (ironic really that i should be reviewing this book on a website like this).
Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant telling of the origin of Akuma and the training ..., 20 Nov. 2014
A brilliant telling of the origin of Akuma and the training of Ryu and Ken in the Ansatsuken style. The quote on the box says "The best live action action adaption of any fighting game", something I have read on other movies based on games, however in this case its actually true.
A must for Streetfighter fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple, pretty and fun., 31 Dec. 2012
Even though this is a tactics based slash em up rather than a full on run about head bashing fight fest, i thoroughly enjoyed this game. The story is one of the strong points (despite a childish and unnecessary over use of swearing)and once you get the hang of the game system and building up your characters abilities and weapons you will be cracking heads and assassinating people left and right with much aplomb. Although I wouldnt suggest spending over £20 on the game due to it being quite repetitive (even though Dwarves and elves are featured in the story you only get to fight humans), If your after a fantasy based fighting adventure then I would recommend giving "Of Orcs and men" a try.

2.0 out of 5 stars A step backwards for the EDF, 3 Sept. 2011
Being a huge fan of the EDF games going way back to the budget release of Monster Attack on the PS2, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Insect Armageddon. However on finally playing it i was totally disappointed with the changes they have made to one of my favorite franchises. My main problems being that.....

1: Enemies are now pretty much just insects, before you had all manner of stomping robots and giant earth shattering behemoths to take down, but now the game becomes boring very quicly as 90 percent of the time (other than the odd robot here an there) you will be blasting the same spiders and ants.

2: The weopans no longer feel like they pack any punch. This is mainly due to the fact that the creatures you shoot just disintegrate rather than flying off in different directions squirting green blood like they used to. No longer can you launch a rocket into a busy crowd of bugs, and then chuckle to your self as they are launched pirouetting in all directions. Now they just dissolve in a very boring and unsatisfactory way.

3: All of the battles are set in an american city. No more humoungus sky scrapers, beaches, cliffs etc. This generally makles the game feel incredibly dull in comparison to the areas that battles were fought in the previous games.

Basically I would recommend that you do your self a favour and hunt down a copy of this games predecessor "Earth defence forde 2017", as its the game that this one wants to be.Earth Defence Force 2017 (Xbox 360)

5.0 out of 5 stars What Black Rain should have been., 4 Jun. 2010
This review is from: Opaque Brotherhood (Audio CD)
The first Dark Lotus album "Tales from the Lotus Pod" has to be one of my all time favourite psychopathic albums. The second album "Black Rain" wasn't really the follow up i was expecting, it lacked the dark, slow and demonic feel of Tales. However "The Opaque Brotherhood" is exactly what i was after, its has the same slow beats and twisted lyrics that made Tales so great. Definately recommended to anyone who enjoyed Tales from the Lotus pod or who prefers the slower darker side of the Psychopathic sound.

3.0 out of 5 stars The most important man in WWE history tells 1/2 the story!, 24 Nov. 2002
Having been a wrestling fan for over ten years I have been eagerly anticipating this book for a long time. When it was announced not to long ago that the "Immortal" Hulkster would be penning his life story I could not wait to get my hands on what would undoubtalbly be the biggest and most Informative wrestling biography ever. However when I did get my hands on a copy the first thing that struck me was the size of it. 343pages did not really fill me with the impression that Hulk had squeezed in every last detail and interesting fact or story when recalling his epic career. Having just finished the book my fears have been proven to be justified. Don't get me wrong its not that bad a book, however do not expect lots of dirt to be dished, and the kind of detail or wit that you would find in other biographophies such as Have a Nice day or Pure Dynamite. Their are some very interesting moments such as Hulk's views on fellow superstars such as Booker T, The Ultimate Warrior and Mr T, however he never really gives us more than a basic opinion on why they are not as good as "The Hulkster" and as a result of this, old Terry Bollea comes across as being just a tad arrogant (something that most wrestling fans have been reading for years). Having said this however I did enjoy this book far more than 90% of all the other wrestling Autobiographies I have read (The best being Have a nice day and Pure Dynamite). The bottom line is that this book should be twice the size, with less information about how many celebrity friends he has and more information about the industry in which he has wheeled and dealed for over twenty years.
