Good to Go: The Life And Times Of A Decorated Member Of The U.S. Navy's Elite Seal Team Two
Price: £1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping account of life and times of the SEAL Teams in Vietnam and of one man's endurance through those times and the disappo, 28 April 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A most authentic account of operations amid the Vietcong and other postings, including the camaraderie and discipline of active service with the U.S. Navy SEALs.
Also giving a no frills account of personal difficulties along the way.
Never ring that bell.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was a numbers game, 31 Jan. 2017

An interesting perspective on the Bush War and the reasons possibly leading up to it. Could it have been that black Zim nationalism might have been allayed if the whites had paid them better and involved them more in "middle class" positions/ society?? Personally, I doubt it because of numbers - one white working male would need to support at least 30 of the native population (educate them, give them better food, healthcare and more technical/ responsible jobs) I fear he might do it for 3 or 4, maybe five, but not thirty. Sadly, they did not bring on even 3 or 4 to their standards but even so the other 20 or more would be subjected to terrorism and the battle would still have been lost.

Attention to detail matches Le Carre and carries with it the tenseness of life undercover in wartime Germany.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligence in the face of adversity, 29 Sept. 2014

A man not cut out for war writes with great understanding of the plight of his men and the drudgery of the trenches, still retaining his wry humour and the eloquence of someone well read. Descriptive, though without the full horror of the war.

German Army at Ypres 1914, The
Price: £5.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Probably one of the best descriptions of life at the front in 1914, 15 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very detailed description of the first battle of Ypres from the German perspective but so detailed that it becomes monotonous as a "good read". Endless numbers of men being shoved into an endless series of advances towards a prepared enemy in lousy winter conditions - and few coming back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Typical le Carre, 15 July 2014

Goes off on vague tangents. But that is le Carre.
