5.0 out of 5 stars The Lost City Rises in All It's High Definition Glory..., 6 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I Will admit this is one of the shows i have bought on Home Media Many Times (Seasons 1-4 I Bought as the Seperate DVD Volumes, Then got rid of those to get the series 1-5 DVD Boxset and then got rid of that to get this...) but it also got me into SG-1 and has since sustained it's place as my second favourite Sci-Fi Series/Franchise after the adventures of a certain Time Lord who has been keeping the universe safe since 1963.

All the Episodes have been given one hell of a remastering to bring it up to the specs Stargate fans expect.
The Pilot "Rising, Parts 1 & 2" looks better than ever and the City has never looked so beautiful.

Most of the DVD Extras are here (including the Lackluster Blooper Reel - a blooper reel for me should just be 5-10 Minutes of Gaffs and mess-ups not 5-10 minutes of people talking about why they dont have many bloopers and show roughly 2 minutes worth...)

and for the price of £89.99 (when i bought the Complete DVD set i paid than twice as much as this...) it is worth it.

so as Lt. Col. John Sheppard (back when he was a Major) once said...

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Atlantis. Please Remain Seated till the Puddle Jumper has come to a Full and Complete Stop!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Despite other Reviews, I Thought this was Russell at his Best, 26 Dec. 2011
As far as Stand-Ups go... not many impress me (Alan Carr being one of the few exceptions). Russell Howard is also among that few and this live show proves he gets better and better at his trade of comedy.

As soon as he Starts the Laughs never let up (lets just just say my mum was laughing alot at this one) and some of the stories about his family and friends whilst being quite hilarious, are also fairly common with a few of my friends as well...

Russell Howards third Live DVD is as equaly good as his previous efforts and i was not dissapointed.

Can't wait for the next year of Russell Howard's Good News and his next Live DVD...

Also worth buying are Russell Howard's Good News - Best of Series 1 [DVD], Russell Howard Live [DVD] & Russell Howard - Live 2 - Dingledodies [DVD]

5.0 out of 5 stars Demons Ran When the Doctor went to war..., 4 Dec. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After last years series, Mr Moffat had a hell of a job bringing his 2nd year as head writer up to par with what he did before... and he managaed just that with a Christmas Special that was fantastic, a 2-Part opener that finally gave us our first look at the Silence and all the other grand episodes in the set.

Unfortunatly they left off the Doctor Who at the Proms 2011 from this years earlier release of A Christmas Carol on DVD, but as the only bit i found enjoyble was the Doctor's Scene where he "saves" the concert from a temporal explosion so in all i'm not to fussed.

but in all this 4 episodes stand out as the finest and i will tell that one will be last as it was saved till then.

in at No 4. - 6.12: "Closing Time" By Gareth Roberts. 6/10.
Mr Roberts has given a fantastic Cyberman story that only got the score it has as i am a fitting room attendant so the idea of clearing up a FR and finding a Cybermen in a changing room is quite frightening... but what makes it great are the Doctor and craig explaining how the doctor gets his Stetson and of Course CYBERMATS...

at no 3. - 6.07: "A Good Man Goes To War" By Steven Moffat. 9/10.
as the little tune for Demons Runa and the Doctor's reaction to the Church Soldiers proves you should not Piss off the Last Time Lord... with brilliant Lines from Sontaran commander Strax ("Magnificent Quantaties of Lactic Fluid" nearly had me wetting myself) and a Cool Silurian/Human Duo, and Francis Barber as the best damn Femme Fatale in DW's history.
Plus Matt Smith Delivers the Colonel Runaway Line with such Beliveability that he does scare you a little.

in 2nd Place is 6.11: "The God Complex" By Toby Whitehouse. 9/10.
As far as i'm concerned this episodes defining moments are: a) the revelation that the Minotaur is a distant relative of the Nimon (first seen in The Horns of Nimon (1979/80) no available in the
Doctor Who - Myths And Legends Box Set: The Time Monster / Underworld / The Horns of Nimon [DVD])

And the Heavyweight undisputed Champion of Series 6 (and possibly all the series is...

6.04: "The Doctor's Wife" By Neil Gaiman. 10/10.
Sandman Creator Neil Gaiman gave us a look at the relationship between the Doctor and the TARDIS from a new angle and also gave us a scene that is truly heartbreaking and everyone of the cast, Guest and Main, give their best and make this a powerful episodeand one scene that makes me get teary is the doctor and Idris/TARDIS farewell and Idris final words: "I Just Wanted to Say: Hello. Hello, Doctor."

Fantastic and a Perfect Mission Statement for the Production Team.

Series 6.

DOCTOR WHO at It's very best...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Feel Safe in ARKHAM CITY..., 22 Oct. 2011
"Batman: Arkham Asylum" was always gonna be a difficult game to follow (Let's Face It... The Only Dissapointment was The Collector's Edition's cheap, Plastic Batarang) but Rocksteady lived up to expectations.

My Brother Plays mostly RPGs (Fable, The Elder Scrolls Dragon Age, etc.) so to me this is the one game i have waited for since it was announced in december 2009... and it was worth it.

I Hope there will be a Batman: Arkham Knight or something as Rocksteady Know how to do a DC Comics Game and Do It Right...

Up Until Thursday, Batman: Arkham Asylum was always my favourite, but now Arkham City has pulled that down...

Play This and Enjoy...

5.0 out of 5 stars INFESTATION: The Best of IDW's License's taking on the hordes of the Undead, 11 Oct. 2011
If You told me when i was 16 that a comic company was planning on having G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, STAR TREK and GHOSTBUSTERS taking on the legion of the undead (considering the latter take on those of the afterlife for a living anyway...) I would've questioned your sanity.

But with the Publication of IDW's Insanely Awesome Infestation Volume 1 TP & Infestation Volume 2 are an interesting new way of crossing over franchises, without having to have the characters from each franchise appearing in the others story.

Infestation Volume 1 TP starts with the First Issue of the C.V.O.(Covert Vampiric Operations): INFESTION Main Story (That Isn't part of any of the other licences but sets the scene for the others) which sees a portal open to a world that is home to an entity that needs a new universe to feed from and uses zombies to increase it's power.
between the two issues are 4 seperate 2-part books that cover the Undermind's Servant, former C.V.O. Agent BRITT, and her attempts to take over the other universes. the story's are as follows - INFESTATION Volume 1:- INFESTATION #1, The TRANSFORMERS: INFESTATION #1 & #2 and G.I. JOE: INFESTATION #1 & #2. INFESTATION Volume 2 contains STAR TREK: INFESTATION #1 & #2, GHOSTBUSTERS: INFESTATION #1 & #2 and INFESTATION #2.

all i will say is buy them, and enjoy a crossover done differently.

INFESTATION is fantastic.

and who wouldn't enjoy the thought of Dr McCoy being unable to say "It's Worse Than That! He's Dead, Jim!" for 2 Issues...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sucker Punch: Sweet Dreams are made for this..., 14 Aug. 2011
Albeit i saw the TV Spot for this when it was released and loved the look.

Later, i was unable to see it in the cinema due to a fit bought on by my epilepsy, i had to wait until a home video release to see the amazingly stunning visuals for SP...

Glad i did.

Only problem i had was that a 12 rating was a bit low for a BBFC rating for a film that has a great deal of references to Sexual Abuse and it's Psychological Content (but then the BBFC rated The Punisher [DVD] [2004] [2005] an 18 and aside from the implied Piercing-torture but i have seen worse in a 15 film) but aside from that i recommend SUCKER PUNCH to anyone...

5.0 out of 5 stars "It's Exactly Like The Movies!!!" HOTD Manga is Brilliant Read..., 19 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having watched the Anime Series that is Based on these Graphic Novels, I Wanted to Buy it to see if the Story is any better or worse on paper, and it's just as good as the show. the anime series sticks very close (though it seems, if you watch the subbed verions instead of the dubbed, they can't accept swearing...) and it plays out that each chapter in the book makes up one episode of the series.

all in all this is equally brilliant read, and thanks to THE WALKING DEAD's ressurecting tehe Zombie boom, well worth seeing - may even be good for a big Hollywood blockbuster...

5.0 out of 5 stars HOTD: Definitly cannot wait for this fantastic Anime... and on High-Def Blu Ray., 11 Jun. 2011
Now I am not a huge follower of Japanese Anime (I Only have ever watched Ghost in the Shell, Witchblade and JA versions of US Films and Shows...) so i watched this expecting a standard Zombie Flesh Eating Narative.

Brilliant Series that is visually Stunning and equally Entertaining, puts most other Zombie films and Series to shame (George Romero's Films, the Resident Evil Movies and AMC's THE WALKING DEAD not withstanding, of course)

I'd recommend to any anime or zombie fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Sgt.! Make It Spin..." The History of Millitary Sci-Fi (sort of) Starts Here..., 16 April 2011
I Admit, when it first started way back in 1997, I Could not give a Damn about STARGATE SG-1.

Yes, I Was (and still am) a Huge Sci-Fi Nerd but it never really appealed to me. but i remember watching intermitent episodes for about the first 7 years of the Series with my Mum who watched it for 3 reasons: 1. because she loved the STARGATE Movie, 2. She Loved Egyptian Mythology and 3. She was a huge Richard Dean Anderson/MacGyver fan.

Now i Remember seing episodes like "Children of the Gods", "Hathor", "There But For The Grace of God", "Within The Serpents Grasp/Serpents Lair" "Out Of Mind/Into The Fire" "Seth" and a few others...

It wasn't until Spin-off show STARGATE: ATLANTIS was Beginning that i took interest in SG-1.

When Going back and rewatching from "COTD" right through to season 10's "Unending" i saw a Sci-Fi Show that had comedy, action, drama, and adventure in equal measure (more so with the Comedy when Claudia Black's VALA MAL DORAN emerged).

Then the Films were released, STARGATE: THE ARK OF TRUTH is a worthy Conclusion to SG-1's Final 2 Seasons' ORI Story Arc and could have been a huge theatrical release...

However the film they credited as being their most epic STARGATE ADVENTURE Yet left something to be Desired: whilst being a great movie in itself, STARGATE: CONTINUUM (Like 007's 22nd Outing QUANTUM OF SOLACE) does not really feel like a STARGATE story, even though it has it's trademark Spaceship fights and RDA being a Smart-Arse (No different to his usual role as Jack O'Neill), eventually the film suffers plenty of flaws, like the villain being killed-off Twice, and RDA being in only a 1/3 of the film that was given a huge RDA's back fan fare.

Though to be fare the impressive effects and the the parts of the story that dont fall in the Plot Holes, make STARGATE: CONTINUUM worth watching and some of the early interplay between Ba'al (Cliff Simon) and Jack O'Neill do make you chuckle...

All in All this 61-Disc Set is a worth-while buy to watch a show that is such a classic.

aside from DOCTOR WHO (27 Seasons between 1963 and 1989, a TV Movie in 1996 and 6 Series between 2005 and 2011, "TORCHWOOD" SERIES 1, 2 & 3: CHILDREN OF EARTH, "THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES" SERIES 1 - 4), SMALLVILLE (10 Seasons between 2001 and 2011) and STAR TREK (THE ORGINAL SERIES (3 Seasons from 1966-1969), THE ANIMATED SERIES (1 Season from 1973 - 1974), THE NEXT GENERATION (7 Seasons from 1987-1994), DEEP SPACE NINE (7 Seasons from 1993 - 1999), VOYAGER (7 Seasons from 1994 - 2001) and ENTERPRISE (4 Seasons from 2001 - 2005) as well as 11 Movies between 1979 to 2009) this is a sign of how to make a succesful Sci-Fi Show... and how to change the cast at certain points and still get great TV From it...

Buy It If You Like, Stick Season 1, Disc 1 in your DVD/Blu-Ray Player and get ready to step through the gate...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is FRELLING Awesome!!!!!.... Finally a Sci-Fi Classic is Back on DVD, 18 Jan. 2011
For Anyone who watched BBC Two in the evenings back in the four years between 1999 and 2003 - when each weeknight promised a repeat of an old STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, Each Night of the week had something else on... (Tuesdays would have STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, wednesday meant STAR TREK: VOYAGER (later moved to Tuesdays after DS9 finished) Thursdays were BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYERS Nights whilst RED DWARF Repeats concluded the week on Fridays...) but for 22 wonderful weeks a year one show was aired on Mondays that completley blew most of those classics out of the water: from Rockne S. O'Bannon (Creator of SEAQUEST DSV and ALIEN NATION) & The Jim Henson Company came Sci-Fi's most amazing inclusion: FARSCAPE...

Hands down this made my week and watching it now reminds me of those 4 years in my life just sitting down and watching TV with my Mum and seeing what happens to Chrichton and Co. Next...

With Jaw Dropping Finales, Tearful Endings and Visual Effects that would make the New STAR TREK movie crew wet their Pants... FARSCAPE is Sci-Fi Jim, But Not as You Know It...

Recommended episodes would be (Season 1) "Premiere", "A Human Reaction", "Through The Looking Glass", "Family Ties", (Season 2) "Mind The Baby", "Crackers Don't Matter", "The Way We Weren't", "Home on the Remains", "Out of their Minds", "My Three Chrichtons", "Look at the Princess, Parts 1-3", "Beware of Dog", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "The Locket", "Liars, Guns and Money, Parts 1-3", "Die Me Dichotomy", (Season 3) "Seasons of Death", "Suns and Lovers", "Self-Inflicted Wounds, Part 1-2", "Revenging Angel", (Season 4) "Bad Timing" & FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS
