5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says, 11 May 2016

Light, folds up nicely, seems well made. As others have said, the same model is costlier elsewhere. A good buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Otherwise it is fun, does the job and is value for money, 28 April 2016

It's a basic, small size mouse, ideal for travelling. The USB fits loosely, rather than satisfyingly tight, in the computer port. Otherwise it is fun, does the job and is value for money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful home grown talent like this deserves to be supported, 9 Sept. 2015

This review is from: All In (Audio CD)
A really fresh, original and invigorating sound from this Manchester band, combining the big band tradition with contemporary driving rhythms. You can't help being infected with the band's enthusiasm. There are two or three stand out tracks, the ones that get played on the radio. The cover of Bowie's Lets Dance did not do much for me. Thoughtful home grown talent like this deserves to be supported, I would love to see the boys in concert. Do give it a go. And do listen to Radio 3's jazz programmes which alert one to music like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not entirely certain this is genuine, 12 Jun. 2013

The item arrived in a Samsung Galaxy Note III box showing a white two piece plug. However, inside was a black adapter stylistically identical to the adapter originally provided with my Galaxy III phone. On closer inspection, the new adapter carried poorer quality printing on the rear of the plug and on the cable. There was also a misspelling - ARAVEL ADAPTER rather than TRAVEL ADAPTER as on the original. One is therefore suspicious that this might not be an original Samsung product. I have yet to use it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, not the book reviewers acclaimed, 11 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Petite Mort (Hardcover)
This novel just didn't match up to the reviews in well respected sources such as the Financial Times. Multiple plots, switching between time periods, settings and characters seem to be indispensable devices to novelists these days in the mistaken belief that the critics won't take them seriously otherwise. None of this works if the characters and conceits don't live for you and for me they didn't. This wasn't the evocative work of the period the book had been pumped up as. Many journeymen writers have produced serviceable works which are sharper than this without the benefit of a degree course in creative writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Matches top brand desk diaries, 2 Jan. 2013

A bargain. Although inexpensive, this is a good quality desk diary with the usual information and features one is used to from brands such as Letts or Collins. You won't be disappointed.

Nice (AA CityPack Guides) (AA CityPack Guides)
by AA Publishing
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars All you need for a short break, 2 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Easy to read, well broken up and gives you all you need to know to get the best out of Nice, together with a pull-out map. Highly recommended. Better information on selected local buses routes and a detailed map of the Old Town would have been helpful. Hard to see why their top 25 attractions overlooked the charming Palais Massena in favour of the dreary and second rate Museum of Modern Art.

The Arabs: A History
The Arabs: A History
by Eugene L. Rogan

5.0 out of 5 stars Very readable and coherent history, 23 Nov. 2012

This review is from: The Arabs: A History (Paperback)
Rogan offers a sweeping, clear sighted and easy to read account of the political history of the Arab world from the time of the Ottomans. It is not a cultural history. This seems as good an introduction as any to this subject and a helpful background to events in this part of the world today. If like me you get frustrated by news coverage of the middle east that it limited to the latest sensations and doesn't attempt to explain how the modern middle east came to pass, this one is for you. Not in the least, being able to understand more clearly the part the imperial powers have played in creating such a mess and so many tragedies. Persevere with the interminable names of key figures in each country over the last few hundred years and you will find this book gathers pace as a real page turner which throws light on such misunderstood peoples.
The book may have its more scholastic critics and there may I'm sure be more academic treatises out there. So far as this lay reader is able to tell, Rogan takes care to be even handed when it comes to appraising the historic foreign overlords of the Arab peoples, inter-Arab conflict and the Israeli-Palestine question. His is a 'stuff happened' approach but suggests a handful of key themes driving the development of this part of the world as we see it today. Rogan ends the book optimistic that things can change for the better - I'm not so sure as every day we see old emnities and rivalries being acted out which only serve to frustrate the arab man and woman in the street who just want what we all want in life. I learnt a lot and unhesitatingly recommend it.

This absolutly fits the bill for a breathable hi-vis running shirt. Why pay 2-3 times as much for a designer label? Highly recommended.

I am very please with this LED lamp and recommend it. It really does give a bright enough field of light for reading sufficient for someone in their 50s. Light quality is superior to the Kiom 10149 which I found disappointing and suitable only for ambient/mood lighting - see my review. The head of the 10007 is very adjustable for both closeness and angle and can be used either by the sofa or over a work desk.
As with other Kiom lamps, it is supplied with an adaptor for UK use and has a reasonable length of cable. The two less pleasing aspects of the design are:
- although the base has a 22cm diameter, if the lamp head is extended fully away from the axis, it can become unstable.
- the on/off switch is tiny and flimsy, doesn't inspire confidence and is disappointing for German manufacture. This is a really weak point - will it give out before the LED array?
That said, on balance I would consider buying a second for another room, or the desktop version.
