Really really pleased with this cable! Great sound and those well-designed jacks won't budge at all once you've plugged them in. Sounds great with guitars and bass!

4.0 out of 5 stars They're picks, 'nuff said, 29 Jan. 2012
These picks were exactly what I expected for their gauge, and I've already played them all down to smoothed out stubs (this review's a little late). Nice spares to have around, though these days I'm more into mid-gauge Sharkfins (can be a bit pricier). Good buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, 29 Jan. 2012
This review is from: Orange Micro crush CR3
While I wasn't expecting the world out of a mini-amp and can't really judge the brand on its portable amp (the big ones being where most companies shine), I really thought Orange would manage to keep the signal from fuzzing up too much on its cleaner setting. It's not particularly difficult for it to over-distort your clean sound even on tiny volumes.

The fuzz of the overdriven sound (when wanted) is the nice classic feel you can expect from Orange, obviously given that you lose out on presence and thickness of sound with such a tiny amp, and that the higher volumes will get a bit messier sounding as with all mini amps I've played. Good quality for its price and if you do a lot of outdoor impromptu jamming, you could do a lot worse than this baby.

Durable, high-fidelity and just plain awesome considering the price. Will keep this brand in mind for cables in the future. 'Nuff said.

Everything exactly to specification, good materials and no noticeable fidelity lost over the distance the signal travels down the cable. Good product!

Brand New Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi Effects Pedal FX
Brand New Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi Effects Pedal FX

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but..., 29 Jan. 2012
Let me first say that this is in no way a bad multi-FX pedal. For all intents and purposes, it works well for me! I have however been spoilt in the past by previous Zoom offerings, and the few things I came to rely on with the brand were sadly not present in the G1XN, making it a somewhat above-average pedal for its brand and price range. When it comes to Zoom I'm just usually more blown away by the price to quality ratio.

The first thing I noticed was a lack of durability for the brand - when holding it for the first time it felt like the pedal was going to fly out of my hands it was so light and delicate feeling! It isn't going to fall apart as it is still well-made, just possibly with too much cost-cutting done in terms of the materials we're going to constantly be touching with our feet. It might be aimed at the more homely, casual playing market given the price tag, but I usually buy Zoom pedals expecting something a little heavier with more solid-feeling parts, and a lot of people are always going to get into their playing and will start stomping around a bit. It sucks to have to be so careful with your equipment while you're playing; the lack of freedom being more annoying than you or me stomping around actually being the common case. This is the sort of nonsense I expect from Behringer or Ross products.

Another thing that was a bit irritating is how sticky the expression pedal feels. There isn't much room to move it up or down, and it's a huge challenge to move it around smoothly when using wah or gain control. This is the type of thing that really should be tested a bit better before hitting the production line, when all it would've taken to make it way awesome would be to raise the axis a millimetre or so allowing for a more natural expression range (you do have to use your foot after all), and using as smooth as possible materials around the axis so it isn't sporadically either slightly insensitive or over-sensitive.

Otherwise, all the other features work wonderfully and the process of laying down patches is minimal in terms of time and fuss, with lots of options for tweaking when needed. Switching between expression pedal modes and FX banks is very streamlined and the overall layout is breath-taking in its simplicity while being practically effective (yay for effective effects)! The effects themselves are high fidelity - great for live and recording purposes, the amp modelling is superb (my Laney 100W sounds pretty cool when doing all the work in this regard, but I found all the cross-modelling yielding great results when playing at lower tunings).

Four stars overall - would be five without the two (stressing this) quite minor drawbacks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright and Sexy!, 29 Jan. 2012
The strings got to me quickly and in perfect condition, and the sound I got was bright and clear but with good, fat bass. I highly recommend these strings for anyone who likes lower tunings with the continued ability to shred and bend notes as with standard E or drop D with a basic pair of .9's, as well as being able to get a little extra crunch out of the bottom notes when distorted or overdriven while retaining a good squeal using pinch harmonics.

It got to me quickly and in perfect condition, and it was a good bottle of Jack as any - the limited edition packaging tickled the gift receiver pink though!
